Smart move, just another gadget that doesn't work. It does let lots of dirt get thru, OEM filters much more efficent. Has been proven many times. I have never had any heat problems, have always ran stock filters except for the K&N which was a total waste or money. Most all of our 5th wheel have been heavy. The Duramax/Allison need not after market gadgets, excellent HP and Torq and decent fuel mileage. GBY...

Yup when I tried them I found them to be more effective if instead of waiting for the filter to be more efficient by getting dirty as everyone knows--I just threw in some dirt right off the bat.No clean oily filter for me,give me a dirty better working one.Seriously I did not see any advantage over OEM paper so quit the mess.

Amen to that ! I have taken a kleenex to reach in the tube to the turbo to collect all the bad stuff the naysayers say is getting past and guess what a clean kleanex going in and a clean Kleanex coming out ,Duh where did all the nasties go!!! I (know) they are on the outside of the K&N where they belong. Seven years and I am still waiting for it to blow up !!!! I like saving $25 or more everytime I clean it. I don't repeat what I hear,I tell what I know by experience I own one! Remember if you do a half of a job when servicing one you will get sub poor results. That is not the fault of the filter but the operator/service person as is the case so many times on so many things! IMHO

I second that!! The K&N filter works flawlessly. I to clean mine at least every 8 months and amazed how dirty it is. I drive strictly highways.

If you have a diesel you were smart to get rid of the K&N. You can't find the dirt with a kleenex because it went through your turbo. Oiled filters have a record for fouling the MAF sensor and creating codes. The best filtration is the paper one your vehicle came with.

I test my oil every oil change and have always been told that my air filter (K&N) is doing an excellent job of filtering the air. I have been using them on my diesels since 82. my 82 was bought new with one, special order with the Bank's stinger turbo.

After the comprison tests I saw I will stick with the paper filters.

The only benefit to the K&N drop in filter is $$$. Flow improvements are negligible and dirt retention is about the same maybe a bit better. But with the Motorcraft 6.0L donalson filter at $40.00+ a piece the K&N pays for itself pretty quick.
Proper cleaning cycles and resisting the temptation to over oil will make it a great money saver. MAF meter fouling is caused by EXTREME over oiling, I've never seen a code from using a properly oiled drop in K&N. I have seen codes from the kits because they aren't properly engineered. The enclosed kits such as the S&B and Volate will lower EGT's just like EGT's are lower in the fall and winter months. More airflow of air from outside the engine compartment works. You can prove it to your self if you can read the intake temps. Just compare ambient temp with the intake temp.

And you are an authority How????? How many K&Ns have you owned??As I stated before that a half assed job of servicing will give you the same results. If you don't understand how to do a job correctly leave it to a Technician as his name tag is the difference,Ha Ha!
It is amazingly hilarious that several of us above who have had and used them for a long time with excellent results hold no credence. But the naysayers many of them are spouting rhetoric that they heard or read think they are the authority on the subject! Go figure!!!!
