I have a 2004 Silverado 2500HD, 8.1L and Allison Transmission. My lease is up in 2 months but with the economy the way it is and such I am seriously considering buying out my lease. With that said I am going to add or change a couple of things. First i am going to install a new hitch platform, probably some new shocks and definitely new mirrors. The hitch is no problem and neither are the shocks but the mirrors are another story. The current mirrors are power, heated and built in turn signals. The question is has anyone that owns such a vehilce ever replaced their's with camping mirrors that will have heat and the turn signals? If so can you give me particulars, where did you get them, what was the model number and anything other information you can provide so I can change the OEM's and finally get a set that I can see beyond the camper with.

The mirrors from the 06 are a simple bolt on replacement. You can get them from a couple of online sources. Since they are plug and play you retain all of the features, IE heated/turn signals as your original ones.

I ordered mine from gmpartsdirect.com several years ago. I also found several on ebay, but they were more expensive.

Check with your dealer. Maybe you can work something out with him. I was looking at a new D/A while getting my oil changed and saw that they were a $250. option. Had mine added free after making the deal on my truck. Wait until all the figures are agreeded upon and use that as a way to get something extra.

I did. In 2003 they didn't have the pull out camper mirrors, I had the standard GM truck mirrors. I wanted the pullout 2006 style camper mirrors so I went to GMdirect.com and found them for $200 each which were $400 each in the dealer, I got the dealer to match the price. My truck is an SLE which is nicely loaded but not fully loaded, I didn't have the directional signal in the mirror but once I plugged in the new mirrors all of sudden they worked and the heat worked too.

When I was shopping for my new 07 GMC 3500, I found several trucks (GMC/Chevrolet)that I liked but they had the small mirrors. I inquired about swapping them out for the camper mirrors but learned they had a different wiring harness. The camper mirrors could be put on the truck, but the turn signals and adjusters would not work. I kept shopping for another truck until I found what I required. You may find this to be the case. Best of luck.

Best of luck. That may be true I don't know, all I cared about was that the power mirror worked and it was a bonus that I got the turn signal and heated glass. Keep in mind my truck is older at an 03 so maybe the wire harnesses on the new trucks won't work. I find it hard to believe though because usually they try to make one harness for all of the same vehicle and just don't add the optional item. My truck didn't have fog lights when I bought it either but I bought the fog light kit at GMC and it contained the lights, relay and switch... the harness already had the wiring in it for the lights.

I've been looking at 2008 and 2009 dually's so if I trade my truck in on a new one I'll be swapping the mirrors out and selling the camper mirrors. I haven't found the right deal yet so it may not happen for a while, we'll have to wait and see.
