I grew up just north of Dayton (Piqua). They were 'Fixin' that THING in 1965 and whenever I go back to visit its ALWAYS the same! STILL workin on er! I figure that with all the Ohio people unemployed, they can now claim its a
'100 year Make work program'. You know...like Pres. Roosevelt did back in the 30's ta get us out of the depression. BTW...is that crazy 20 mph, 90 degree turn still there just north of downtown? Most insane thing I ever saw on an Interstate! Oh wait...do they still have 8 lanes coming into town and squeeze em down to 2 lanes thru town???

Just went through Dayton with our rig a week ago. Mess in town with the construction work. Get in the left lane as you come into town and stay there. Otherwise you will end up on Route 4 headed to Springfield. Same thing as you get to the I-75/I-70 intersection. Rougher than a corncob in a couple of spots. A real mess right now.

If you don't mind a little two lane road, take 675 on the south side of Dayton up around the east side. When you get to I-70, you can either stay going straight or you can go west on I-70. Once you get north of New Carlisle, you can head back west to I-75. SR 36 is nice straight road and will bring you out in Piqua.

The intersection for i-70 & I-75 is pretty much done now and the entrance ramp to i-75 north is not bad now. A little out of your way but way less construction.

I live north of Dayton. PM me if you want more information.

I know that this is an old thread. For anyone that is making the trip up I75 through Kentucky there is road construction going on in the Williamsburg Ky area and then again North of Lexington. Most days you can drive right through it with out many delays. Once in a while there will be a delay. In Kentucky the speed limit on interstate highways in construction areas is usually reduced to 55 mph (watch for signs) and fines in construction zones are doubled for speeding.

Drive carefully,

OK, I'm in Michigan now. BillD3, the Kentucky construction wasn't so bad because we had to slow down for the rain anyway.

Agteacher, I took I-675 to I-70 and it was fantastic. The road was great, it was 4:45 in the afternoon with almost no traffic and I loved it. The GPS said it would add travel time to the trip but I believed it saved time. I didn't have to slow for all the construction in Dayton. Thanks again for the heads up.
