I have a 2004 Silverado 2500HD and want to replace the factory shocks. Has anyone replaced their factory shocks and what do you recommend? I tow a 32RKD Holiday Rambler, 9500 lbs. loaded.

whoah, you just opened the gate for all the Bilstein guys to ride in

I put two on the back of my F 250 and don't think they are any better than the Ford ones I took off that had 115K on them.

Just me but I am glad I did not buy four of them.

I considered Bilstein's and Rancho's on the truck in my signature, but went with the Monroe Reflex shocks....have been very happy so far.

Thats OK Dave H, I want to hear all the pros and cons, the first ones that came to mind was Bilstein but I'm not sold on them yet. Thanks for the input.

had the stockers on 04 chevy avalanche for 2 years before they were gone, live in the country where we actually use our trucks, replaced them with rancho rsx shocks, front two went mush after a year and a half. put bilsteins on just recently, so far so good..biggest differnece i noticed was a stiffer ride which i like, chevy's are a little mushy for me. i know i would not buy rancho again. the one thing that sold me on the bilsteins was that they are gas charged, and it seems that the hydraulic shocks don't last long in cold climates, i think the fluid gets to thick and they blow the seals. i got a great price, like 270.00 for all 4 off of the internet, local place wanted 400.00.

I put Bilsteins on my van in the spring and it rides much better over rough roads.

I have Bilsteins and love them. I also have Ranchos and like them alot too. Both are very good shocks. The Bilsteins are the better buy for the money. I got the Ranchos for the rear axle because of the adjustable feature.
