The storage site where my unit is stored was broken into this last weekend. The theves went around with a pipe and tried to pop open the doore to the RV's. They were successful in actually getting into only on the 4 RV's (out of approximately 50) who's deadbolts were not locked. Now my door lock is broken but my TT is secure due to the deadbolt. Not sure why they cared enough to not simply break a window or something to gain access but I am glad they didn't. ALWAYS USE YOUR DEADBOLT....

DH has brought up the idea of storage a few times to give us more off street parking in snow emergencies but I can't stand the thought of having the Roo not within sight.

We had our MH broken into while parked behind a Cracker Barrel during broad daylight. They just stuck a screw driver in the lock and twisted. It was the non-deadbolt lock. Got about $1500 worth of luggage, clothes, and electronics. Now we never leave it without locking both. I have also heard rumors that the deadbolt has a unique key but the other locks may use the same key used on other RVs. Easier at the dealership for them to get into the rigs.

Some people do not have that option.I am not one of them but it is bad that you can not have a safe place to leave your stuff. It is getting bad every where. Not just in bad parts of a city. You have crack heads and such every where.I know we have one in our neighborhood but pretty much knows where he will get full of holes if caught braking in.I do think since Florida past the right to protect law I think some of the brake ins have gone down at least in this neighborhood.

We are fortunate in that we have never had but only 1 problem at the storage lot we have used for a little over 2 years. The FL license plate was stolen. In the process, the theif simply broke off the plastic plate bracket. So, we simply zip-tie the plate to the rear ladder now. It didn't cost anyting to get it replaced, at least. I sure HOPE I don't jinx myself by posting this! pcm

I dropped my Eagle off at the dealer and he told me to not lock the deadbolt but just the handle lock. They have a master that allowed me to keep my keys and not even leave them with the service manager.
Now I will always use the deadbolt.

As the post above mentioned, some folks don't have the option. I wish we could store our TT at the house but we don't have the room.
We're fortunate to use an excellent storage facility. The best thing is that we're right next to one of the sub-police stations and we share a chain link fence between the two lots. They also store equipment at the RV storage facility so they're in and out at all hours of the day.
So far we've been fortunate that there have been NO break-ins and we hope it stays that way.

It must be catching up there PCM1959.We had a friend that stopped at the Cracker Barrel there and they stoled his plates off the TT and TV.
We were just at Anastasia SP.My wife has to go up there every now and then to help
the economy in the tourist traps.
