Sustained gusts of up to 77 mph! Antelope Valley, Van Nuys, Sylmar and the passes and along the Los Angeles County Coast. Below passes and canyons from Malibu to Hollywood...northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Gusts up to 47 mph after midnight. Brush fires are also burning in several areas. 118 fwy, 210, 5, 14 shut down as of now for the fire.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph or greater are expected.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Turbulent flow around buildings
in urban areas can create locally stronger wind gusts. Motorists
should be alert for sudden gusty cross winds at traffic
intersections.

We headed to Kernville, CA through Mojave on Friday and it was very scary! Today we came back by going through Bakersfield and the Grapevine and had a much nicer ride. Be careful!

We fought winds from Bakersfield to Barstow on 58 today. Tomorrow we are going to attempt Hwy 40 through needles to Lake Havasu City. Wish us luck.

I do wish you luck, but I think I would sit it out if the wind is blowing or try and find an alternate route. 40 through Needles was the most frightening ride I have ever had in our RV.

Because my Superduty F450 Powerstroke doesn't smoke at all.
Got a message from tenants in San Diego suburbans. They have seen flames, but didn't have to evacuate.
Supposable Oceanside was evacuated.

It's California. It's October. The Santa Ana's are blowin' Only means one thing - FIRE. Every October we seem to be "on fire".

The Santa Ana's aren't called "devil winds" for no reason so yes, please be careful out there!

FWIW, the fire that started in Porter Ranch area the other day has, as of yesterday afternoon, moved into an area 3 miles north of me.
The area burned about two years ago so there isnt that much fuel for it other than grass.
Right now, we have more smoke than anything else.
Got the MH packed and fueled in case we have to leave.
