DH is trying to build a gen turi exhaust for our 5500 Onan generator, but does not know where to purchase 3" thin walled PVC pipe. Any and all suggestions welcomed. Thank you all ahead of time,

Drainage pipes at Home Depot.

I don't wish to appear dumber than I normally am, but is using PVC safe for this purpose? I'm thinking about the heat generated only. Inquiring mind wants to know!

Need white 3" PVC which is different than drainage pipe.

We are going off the design of one of a forum member 2cyber 71 who constructed his own gen turi. He was kind enough to include pictures. My guess, with the additional air flow entrained thru the venturi cooled the pipe.

He's not talking about a "direct connect", just ending the exhaust inside a large pipe, the rising heat draws outside air from the bottom and takes the exhaust fumes out the top. The pipe itself doesn't get very warm...hence the Venturi Effect....FYI...Brian

I buy mine at the local Ace Building Center, I have seen it at Canadian Tire-Home Depot-Lowes-Rona Etc.
It is thinner and lighter in weight and is not approved by UL~CSA for use as a supply pipe.
Ask at the service counter!
The Connectors are also available in Approved/Non approved types, either will work fine!
I Built mine using Aluminum Angle rather than strapping which required some filling at the bends, but results in a cleaner looking and sturdier support! Also I was able to incorporate a "Near" Top Support that hooks over the Roof Rack thus eliminating those suction cups! It Works Very well.
Cost: 1 90 degree Exhaust pipe $9.00 Cdn
1 10 Foot piece of 3" Thinwall $10.00
2 3 " coupler 1.24
2 8" pieces of (scrap bin) 1" angle .00
1 12 inch piece of 2" PVC (Scrap Bin) .00
Misc bits found in most untidy Home Workshops .00
Total Cost $20.24 Cdn
