I spoke with a couple of Onan reps who claimed to be engineers. I tried to talk to them about gen stacks. They either didn't know or wouldn't come up with a figure on how much back pressure is too much.

Like Bill, we've been round and round with several genset manufacturers, not just Onan, on the issue of using even a commerical "Genturi" and warranty issues.
Best advice we got was keep any extensions to the original exhaust as short as possible with as few and lowest angles possible, before attaching the Genturi; AND to remove all evidence before going in for warranty work....LOL

I built my generator exhaust stack with regular old 3" PVC pipe, not thinwall.
The total cost was about $30 including the short piece of exhaust pipe bent into an elbow.

The secdule 200 pipe in question can be found at moble home supply companys, normal places like Home Depot, Lowes & building supplys wont have it because its below code for stick built houses.
Far as a coupling to connect sections together, the size pipe you need is 2 1/2" & all you need is a tail pipe expander & a hot air gun to heat the plastic pipe so it can be expanded enough to slip over the other section.

I got my pipe in the sewer plumbing section of Home Depot. It is normally used as the feeder lines in drain fields from house to septic tank and from tank to distribution box and from distribution box to the first section of perforated pipe. This pipe comes with one end "belled" for fitting lengths together without fittings. Just cut it into two 5' sections and use the piece with the bell as the upper piece so the lower piece fits into it.
In the electrical section I found a metal 90ยบ sweep just the right diameter to slip loosely over the generator exhaust pipe. A short piece of bendable exhaust piping would also work.
