Howdy All

I've only been RV'ing for about a year and a half, so I don't know all the ropes and count on the experienced folks in this forum to point the way.

This past weekend we stayed at a very nice (and very pricy) lakeside RV "Resort". We had just finished setting up and were having an adult beverage when we heard an annoying wirring sound from the next campsite.

Upon investigation, we found a detailing crew working on the guy's RV with buffers. A discussion with our new neighbor and with campground personnel disclosed that they not only permit but also encourage the detailing crew to solicit business and perform detailing in the park, (probably with kickbacks to the campground).

The guys were there for two days running their buffers almost continuously. There were no other sites where I could move.

I understand that the detailers have to make a living and I don't begrudge them in any way. Shouldn't the campground offer them a site away from the population for them to work?

Is this acceptable procedure in your collective opinions? Seems to me that at $44.00 per night a little solitude would be in order.

What's your take?

Thanks

Knox G.

As a campground manager...totally unacceptable!! Would have complained loudly and made darn sure that they understood how very wrong this is.

Can't believe I'm the 1st to post on this topic. Sorry, but as long as it is done during no quiet hours, it is the luck of the draw if the site you have/select is going to offer peace and quiet. Most times it is loud radio, barking dogs, screaming children, someone playing a musical instrument, etc. If you really want quiet, then best bet is either boonbocking or go rving during off peak season. I know how you feel, but campgrounds, especially during a holiday/summer season do not offer solitude - just to close to neighbors for that.

At a local campground we frequent, any type of vehicle maintenance, including washing/waxing your TT, RV, or TV is strictly prohibited. It's a time to relax.

Most cgs that we have frequented do NOT allow vehicle maintenance nor soliciting for business purposes. I sure would not go back to one like the OP describes.

I can empathize with you. On one of our outings this summer we were wakened to a loud whirring sound also. Buffers...no. LEAFBLOWERS! At 7am no less. He was contracted to come in and clean off the roads, etc. AARRRGH! I complained to the management and thee next time we were in the same park no leafblowers.

What campground was this? I need to get my fiver cleaned and waxed. We have severe water restrictions where I am and I cannot get mine cleaned unless I use a spray bottle and lots of towels.

The thing with RVing is the good, bad and ugly. I think most of us can honestly say the bad and the ugly are pretty rare. At least in my years doing it.

As full-timers, this type of service is one that make us very happy. It is so difficult to get your rig waxed, that a park that allows and encourages this is a plus for us.

Can't see myself doing this, but it would not have bothered me.

I did have my coach washed once at Circus Circus in Vegas. It never occurred to me that it would cause any problems.
