Yes I did it by myself. Shimmied under the truck pressed it up and rested one end on my knees while I started a bolt on the other end.........STUPID way to do it, Im too old for that nonsense. Get some help and use a torque wrench.
Most hitches re-use the 14mm bolts behind the bumper where it attaches to the frame, locktite them when you torque them back in. Mine kept working loose every few hundred miles until I pulled them back out and locktited them. All the other bolts in my kit had lockwashers/flangenuts and never worked loose.
Put the electrical plug in the bumper, on the drivers side of the license plate, like the newest body style GM trucks.

Does anyone know what the limiting factor is for the tongue weight on the GMC 1500? Is it the OEM hitch or the structure of the truck? If one tries to gain a higher tongue weight capability by swapping for a more capable hitch, just wonder whether one would exceed the capacity of the truck if it is the later.

Did you have to drill a hole in the bumper? I'm assuming you did. Not sure if I am that handy. By the way did putting on a new hitch change your TV/TT setup at all?

A little review of the threads referenced within this post (link) may be helpful.

I haven't heard of any issues with the '08' F250 OEM receiver when used under specified limits. Difficult to make a hitch recommendation without knowing the new model TT specifications, and your expected "loaded" weights.
What hitch are you using with your present Wilderness TT?
