RE: Tire condition Examples

Nice info'Last trip out to the sanddunes i was dumping trailer and noticed a ihad a tire that begun separating the bulge on side caught my eye then closer look i saw about a 6-8 inch separation between thread and sidewall. No tire shop for about 1.5 miles i drove really slow there and nervous but got there.By then the gap had opened to about 12-14 inches. The thread area around there was really warped.Luckily they had a trailer tire and i was on my way 115 bucks later. These tires are goodyear marathons which are now 5 years old. I planned to replace after 4 but not in budget.Every trip i check the air pressure before i leave normally i lose about 2-3 pounds and evenly.Kinda surprised how many DO NOT check pressures just drive off.My boss has a 28ft stacker trailer very heavy 3 axle he was at about 70-80 when it should be at 110 psi.He wondered why gets blow outs.

RE: Photo Thread - Post a Photo of Your Truck Camper Here

RE: Extending battery life by extraordinary measures

When i go camping i dont go to worry about my batteries and sensative care with them.I want to use the lights and watch tv i do so but dont want to watch a volt meter and and say its time to charge. Been on my 6 volts for 5 years i do take them very low and recharge then fast they still hold a great charge and i feel i got my moneys worth.

RE: Driving Truck Camper in snow

took mine out to the snow last weekend not a whole lot in the roads some parts had about a 4-6 inch layer on the road wasnt a problem. The weight helped out with traction no doubt i didnt have to use 4wd but i did leave it in 4wd for the down hill parts didnt have any slide issues but took it easy. Where i was parked at for a while i put it in 2wd to see if i can leave without sliding and i spun first couple feet til the locker kicked in and away i went. http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs152.snc3/17980_109307499079298_100000001465499_232136_1740767_n.jpg

RE: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.

I decided to exercise my new 3500 watt Champion. I really like it so far, started on the first pull after sitting a couple of weeks. I plugged the motorhome into it. It had already been plugged into shorepower so the batteries should have been 100% charged so converter should'nt have needed much juice. I went in put one electri heater on low, 1000 watts, then a different heater on low , another 1000 watts, put the other one on high 1500 watt for a total of 2500 watts. Then I turned the other heater on high and the Champion turned off instantly like I turned it off. The engine did'nt seem to labor or fight for it one bit extra, just turned off. I turned every thing off, unplugged the RV and pulled the rope probably 10 times before it restarted. I continued to exercise it using 2500 watts for another 1/2 hr and it ran perfect. I did'nt want to cause damage by trying to force it to pull the entire 3000 watts. Do you think I have a problem, or will it maybe improve once it is broke in? It's only got 1 hr on it now. Check your oil level.

RE: Battery sticker shock

I have the us 220s for about 5 years on my toyhauler and they are still holding up well.I aint the best with batt maintainance either i run them low and recharge fast, and dont use any solar or tenders while stored. When i got mine they were about 55 a piece. The shop next to ours is a golf cart dealer the guy there told me that the trojas go about 4-6 months longer on avg thats the only plus.I just picked up 4 more from my boss he had aprob with diesel pusher and thought the batts might be bad i told him just recharge and use them he opted to buy 4 new ones i took the old ones and charged them up they are in great shape and only 1-2 years old. For my camper i bought a group 27 deep cycle wal mart battery.Has been fine but then again its only 6 months old. They are 80 a piece which isnt bad for them.(no room for 6 volts in camper)

RE: 12 volt battery choice

I have the walmart group 27 deep cycle in my camper it works well. But i also like to run my tv and lights for a while at night and if i need the heater it will be dead in the morning without using the gen.besides that it does last a while with the lights out just using the inverter for tv. If space allowed i would no doubt run 2 6volts.I use them on my toyhauler and abuse them 5 years and going strong.I aint the type who will keep up on batt maintainance and will run them til they are below 50 percent before i recharge and dont keep batt tenders on them at home while parked. So i will be curious to see how long the wal mart batt last.

RE: 2500HD 6.0L gas

I get about 13.5 avg.a lil more on the highway a lil less on city. Towing a 21ft toyhauler fully loaded with water about 7500 lbs and truck bed loaded with 2 kids quads, fuel, honda 3k gen,and wood i get about 8 doing 60-65. With lance camper towing 21ft boat i get about 10 doing 55-60. 4x4 ex cab shortbed 4.10 gears.

RE: Generator Recommendations Needed...

I have a front hitch on my 2500hd.I got a rack and carry my honda 3000 on it.Works really good its out of the way the power cord reaches it and i dont have to set it on the ground.

RE: GM 6.5” rim w/ 265/75/16-E tires

I use 265/75 tires on my 2500hd and they fit really good look like they were made for the rime size. IMO 285s on stock wheels look like they could use a wider rim though.

RE: camper battery finally died

I got my battery for my lance at walmart it was 80 bucks for a group 27. I too wanted to go with 6 volts but only room for one unless i get alot of wire then i can do the 6 volts inside the bed. They would have to go on each side of the bed to fit.Unless i had 4 more inches from front bed to wheel well. Not worth the hassle for me.

RE: Show your portable genset mounting pics!

I need to get a picture of mine but i have a 2500hd that i use to haul a toyhauler and when no toyhauler a lance cabover camper.I mounted a front hitch and narrowed a hitch rack to fit the honda eu3000 on it.Works great for the camper since the cord reaches it and i dont have to remove it.

RE: Power Inverter

Wish i had a pic of my set up but i put mine below the sinl in the cabinet whichi s close to the batt. Then ran a short custom made ext cord to an outlet installed below the counter which is below the factory 110v outlet that lance provides. All i do is turn on the inverter and plug whatever i need in to the outlet.Mainly my laptop and printer or my sat receiver.(tv runs off 12 volt)

RE: Report on first use of New Generator!

Anyone have an idea what the sound is i havent seen it listed but they list the sound for the 3500. Not a bad gen for the price. If it werent for needing to run an air compressor i probably would have bought one a few months ago to use in the winter time at glamis.I ended up with a honda 3000 since my 3500 went out.But might pick one of the 1200s up for use in my camper

RE: how many miles on your GM 6.0 gasser????

Have a wirk truck with a 6.0 has 171k on it been a great truck the trans was replaced at 160 wasnt slipping but front pump went out so it was running about 300 rpm higher than normal. My own personal truck also has a 6.0 it has 106k on it just noticed motor mount on passenger side is broken i mainly use this truck for towing toyhauler to the dunes and last trip i had to drive it thru some dunes to go and get a broken down dirtbike did hit some rough stuff so this might have contributed i dont know.

RE: How long/often does your generator run @ full load?

I have a honda 3000is and i can run my a/c on both my toyhauler or my camper in the eco mode.Rpm picks ups while it starts but drops down to just above idle once the a/c is going.IMO still very quiet. A/c in the toyhauler will stay on and run with very little cycling none if its hot outside. My camper will cycle alot cause the small space that the a/c has to cool. At the last boat race i went to a guy across from me used the dual honda 200 set up he said he has to leave his eco mode off for the a/c and they were still quiet compared to other gen But IMO they were still noticably louder than my 3000 running my a/c.He also had a remote fuel tank set up so he doesnt have to fill up every hour

RE: HONDA 2000I ?

I can start my 5hp compressor with a 3k honda(that my champion could barely do).Like another stated earlier it will run it but starting it is the obstacle. best bet is to take a compressor you want and try the gen out tos see if does the job. I have a smaller 2.5 that i use for the desert that stays in the toyhauler and its works very well airing up 8 tires from 10 to 65 psi.About a 12 minute job.Harbor freight special 8 gallon tank all for 89 bucks.

RE: Generator comparison.Interesting result.

Blah blah blah If you want a Honda, buy a Honda. The 3500 Champion is still the best buy.Mine starts and runs my 6.5 hp compressor just fine, but I'm smart enough to have the generator wired for 220volts.This isn't rocket science and watts are watts regardless of the brand of the generator. Yes it is a good buy i wont argue that and a well built unit i dont know ow many hours i had on mine but it was in the hundreds for sure and it took alot of abuse. My previous gen didnt last as many hours.Only prob around here in so cal they are now 450 bucks vs 300 in other parts of the country(thanks C.A.R.B) My point is that a honda may be underrated on the wattage for surge or the champ may be overated.Who knows all i am stating is how a 3000 watt honda started my garage compressor easier than a gen that is rated 1500 higher

RE: Generator comparison.Interesting result.

Read it i was just surprises how much power that the eu3000 packs. If one were shopping just based off reading specs on gens they would think that the honda is not as strong. It ran my a/c on my toyhauler and camper very easy.My champ was starting to really struggle when the a/c cycled. When new it was great but with many many hours on it it was fading fast. I will say i did get my moneys worth out of the champ esp for 300 bucks now they are 450 here locally so for me dump that much for another one that will get me 2 years was harder to do so i looked for a used honda i found for 1300.00 since this was my second honda clone motor gen in 4 years.I do use them alot in the desert at times i would run the champ from fri night til sun afternoon non stop in 110 degree heat.
