The Chamber of Commerce has alot of great information, but they do not have a forum. Sometimes the best information comes from the horse's mouth. Join and come look at the beach cams. There is a second set of beach cams on the Home page.

Camped @ Gulf Shores?
I have created a great forum where you can ask about camping, fishing, golf, restaurants, shopping, etc. There are TWO links on the website just for BEACH cams. You can see the beach in different locations, LuLu's, the zoo, etc. You can ask a question or make a comment. This website is the next best thing to being in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Perdido Key, or Baldwin County. You can almost feel the sun and smell the salt air.

Poor Customer Service
I called Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service this morning to cancel my membership because I no longer have a motorhome and their road service without RV service is $69.95 (I got my road service from Sam's Club (Allstate) for $34.95).
I called yesterday about 10 AM to cancel my service as of 11:59 PM (Midnight) on 7/31/09. I had already been told that my refund would be $73.30 before I told them that I wanted to cancel it at Midnight. I was told that their system can only cancel someone at the exact moment that they call to cancel. I explain that my other auto service started at 12:01 AM on 8/1. The person told me flippantly that I will have to call back on 8/1 and hung-up quickly.
I called today (8/1). The young man cancelled my membership and told me that my refund would be $64.14. I explained the above. He said his system can not accommodate refunds based on days. I asked to speak to a supervisor and HE HANGS UP.
Now $9.16 is not a lot of money, but it is S9.16 that I could have used else where. The thing that gets under my skin is the TWO HANG-UPS. Maybe if their memberships start dropping, they will realize the value of customer service.

My wife has an Internet tatting (lace making) friend that lives in Canada. He has a degenerating back and is constant pain. He has to wait months to see a specialist. When the appointment gets near, it is rescheduled for another three months. He is bedridden and needs his pain meds changed, but he can't see a specialist.
When asked if he likes the Canadian healthcare system, he says yes. I attribute his positive answer to two reasons. First, he has never been in the U.S. healthcare system where he would be seen in days and his medicines would be changed rapidly to meet his pain needs. My mother lived through the Great Depression in rural Alabama. She did not know that she and her family was dirt poor because everyone else was in the same perdicament. They didn't know any better. It was a matter of perspective.
Second, I feel his positive response is in part a matter of pride. It is like I can call my brother a no-good drunk, but I will fight you if you call him the same. He will not bad-mouth his native country.
As an American, I do not have to live with pain. If I can't see my regular doctor, I can schedule an appointment with one of dozens of other doctors and be seen in a matter of days.
