RE: How do I disable the 12V option on 3 way fridge?

Mine looks like it has two 12V sources. One is for the controller and the other is attached to the 12V line from the truck. My understanding was that when 12V was on that line, it would switch over. If that is the case, one could just detach the 12V charging line from the fridge and be good.

RE: Head on collision, vehicle on fire with trapped occupant

Wow. I have several fire extinguishers just sitting in my garage. I should check the charges and put them in the truck/camper. I would hate to come across something like that and regret that I had 3-4 extinguishers sitting at home doing nothing.

RE: Do you block your plate for pics on this forum?

With plates this awesome, I have to show 'em off. I'm more worried about people I encounter when I drive like an idiot than you guys.

RE: Just finished up some TC hauler mods.

.... and some vent shades thrown in for looks!!I love those things for far more than their looks. They allow you to leave your windows cracked in the summer, and you can open your windows a bit to keep your windows from fogging in the winter. I have them on my pickup, but on my daily driver, the only one's available are the glue-on type. I can never open the windows when it rains because water pours in when I go around corners.
Sharp looking truck BTW.

Finally, a way to carry your camper, pull your motorcycles, AND put a boat on top of the truck!

RE: 1995 Ford F350 EXT Cab Dually 460 Gas

I had a 1986 F350 CC DRW 2WD with a four speed. It had 186,000 miles when I sold it. It burned oil (did not smoke), but pulled very well. I got 11 empty and 9 loaded with an 11.5' camper and 21' 6,500lb boat.

RE: Moon Shadows

Next time you take that picture, run up and "paint" your truck with a bright flashlight. It makes a pretty cool pic and you don't show up in the final print at all if you keep moving..

RE: Can't wear out my Chevy's brake pads

Don't you love it! If you judge traffic signals etc you rarely need to use the brake other than coming to a full stop. That is not what wears them out - it's the high speed hard braking stuff.
My step-daughter managed to get through her first set of brakes on a new car in 7000 miles! I couldn't believe it. She thought they should be under warranty (Ha!)
She was riding the pedal with her left foot and had worn a hole in the rubber floormat with her heel.
I did that one brake job and told her she was on her own from then on.
Those brakes lasted 12K. Her boyfriend did the next lot!
But your daughter is not mistaken. Les Schwab provides a warranty on their brakes for 2 years or 25k miles. I used to chew them up in my Corsica. I envy your guys with the long lasting brakes. My 2000 K3500 uses a set in about 10,000 miles. Now I just need to go more that 3000 a year and get them replaced under warranty.

RE: Question about TC's and dogs.

We leave our little ones in the camper frequently. In the winter, they are fine in their beds and I do not leave the furnace on due to the fire risk. In the summer, we put the fantastic vent on exhaust and open the other ceiling vent to circulate air. We park in the shade and put windshield shades in the windows for privacy and to keep the temp down. The warmest we've been out was in the 90's and it honestly felt cooler in the camper when we came back.
FYI - Many amusement parks now have dog kennels where you can drop off your pet for the day.

RE: Furnace Noise

Mine did the same thing when I bought it and I couldn't take being woken up all night every time it kicked on. I bought a new fan for about $80 (5 years ago) and put it in myself. It was pretty straightforward and took less than an hour total.
Make sure you disconnect your battery and power to the camper before you start. When sliding mine out, I touched the metal trim around the opening and zapped my circuit board which cost me $150.

As light as your new camper is DJ, I think you could get away with the buttons on the rear.

RE: Filtered TC air using Fantastic Fans

That's a really clever idea. In fact, you've given me another one.
When I had a German shepherd and a Yellow lab, I would open those doors when i left the rig parked and use my fan to keep things cool. I have two little dogs now who could easily escape through the opening, so they have to be in their crates in order for me to open the hatches. After seeing your idea, I realized I can make a screen with some scrap wire fencing that I have. Now I can open the door and leave the little critters free to get up on the bed, pee on the rug, chew up the cushions, and drink from the toilet. Everybody wins!
