RE: RV satellite DVRs

There is an easy way to have both. If your dish requires a "low speed data port" connection for satellite locking (many older models do) and you want to use a satellite DVR (most don't have a data port), an easy solution is to connect both an old receiver with the data port and the DVR receiver using a satellite multi-switch. The multi-switch will feed the dish signals to both receivers. No A/B switch or wire changing is required and in-motion is functional if so equipped. If you have a dual LNB dish, connections are dish to multi-switch (2 cables), multi-switch to old receiver (1 cable), multi-switch to DVR receiver (2 cables), dish low speed data cable to old receiver port (1 phone plug) and DVR outputs to TV/entertainment system. Hope this all makes sense. A passive 4X2 or 4X3 multi switch is under $25 online and is small enough to be mounted near the satellite receivers.

RE: Generac Generator on 2000 Dolphin

I have the same setup and maybe this will help. The stuff flying around is sound deadener that lines the area. It is being blown around by the broken exhaust and the air cooling fan on the generator. It will burn, so you will need to remove the loose stuff around the pipe. It is a tedious process to reach through the holes in the screen to pull this stuff out but can be done. If the welded joint on the pipe is broken and the muffler is otherwise sound, it can be rewelded. Whether it can be done without removal is up to the welding shop. You can always cut a larger hole in the hardware cloth screen to gain better access.

RE: Equal - Good or Bad? What's your experience?

I doubt balance is your problem at 35 to 45 mph. I would look at other things such as worn components, bad shocks or wheel runout. I have had good luck with Equal but it does take a couple miles to work properly after sitting.

RE: Feel Really Stupid??

It is definitely a battery maintainer solar panel with no controller or indicator of any kind. Same as my Dolphin. Chances are good that the panel has failed by now. I wouldn't worry about it. These things are pretty worthless unless you are in a high sunload area.

RE: Generator automatic shut down problem

Listen to Diplomat Don. I think he is on the right track. Run the fuel test by drawing it from a gas can through a piece of new hose. If it still stalls after X time, then persue the oil pressure issue. I believe the oil switch is calibrated to close at 4 psi so the pressure would have to fall below that for the circuit to shutdown the engine. Many older MH's have a problem with rotting rubber fuel hoses. Since the fuel pump pulls gas from the tank, any crack in the hose will allow air to enter and starve the engine.

RE: Rotted generator fuel line

rcrscott, If your Dolphin is a similar configuration to my 99, the job can be done by lowering only the rear end of the tank. Allowing it to pivot around the front most upper attachments. Use a floor jack to control lowering. This method allows access over the rear end of tank and tank can be as much as half full of fuel. Don't forget to disconnect fuel fill and vent tubes at side of tank. On some models this method can be complicated by the location of the leveling jacks.

RE: Filter for Sirius/XM 12v noise

Need a little more info. Is the XM audio directly plugged into the radio or is it using the FM modulator function where you must tune your radio to an FM freguency? If you are doing the FM modulator, the noise is probably coming in thru the FM tuner. If you have a direct plugin, it is probably coming down the power line. Although it's a diesel, there is plenty of noise on the power lines from the alternator and it will mimick engine speed. If you are using the modulator, try a different FM frequency. There is not much else you can do that is easy. If you are direct connected, install a powerline filter available at any auto audio installer on the XM radio power input feed. Direct connect will always give you better sound but many radios don't have an aux. input jack. Let us know what works

RE: HHR owner satisfaction

I can tell you there is no bodywork or trimming required on the standard HHR when using the Blue-Ox baseplate. Installation is easy but requires removal of bumper cover. SS model might be a different story. Miles do not record. I've towed mine 20,000 troublefree miles.
