RE: Leveling Jack Alarm false positive

barbaraok. there is a repair for the alpine problem , so that you do not have to stop, set the park brake and hit store. when it is done, all you have to do is hit the store button and keep driving. pm me for the information. parts are available from hwh for the repair. by the way. only power gear has a correlation between the jack down light and the fluid level. hwh does not depend on fluid level for retracting thier jacks or jack down light. thiers is a mechanical connection between a sensor and a magnet. there are many people who dont know much about thier rig. the key for those folks is to find a service center you trust and patronize them. Or ask "helpful" folks on rv.net for assistance. And, I think that is the value of this type forum. I learn something new almost every day about a system on my rig that has never given me a problem so didn't need to remember every detail of the PDI which I went through almost 10 years ago. As our rigs age I think we learn more about them due to issues that start arising after lots of miles and years on the rigs. Thanks to all who try to help us along on this journey to perfect understanding. It comes easier to some folks than it does to others, but after all it is the trip that provides the most enjoyment, maybe not the destination. I know I'm still learning after over 40 years or rving. RE: Leveling Jack Alarm false positive

Where do I find the resevior? It would help enormously if you would put the type of rig, age, etc., in your signature line so that people could answer. On ours, we have HWH, there is a small door behind the right front tire that leads to the compartment for the jacks/slides. What type of PDI did you have that didn't explain how to check all of the fluid levels? And just because a jack LOOKS like it is clear up, doesn't mean that it is. Barb Your comment, "What type of PDI did you have that didn't explain how to check all of the fluid levels?" Now, that comment really helps a lot, Barb. Some folks had no PDI since they purchased from individuals or maybe didn't absorb every technical detail of the PDI. Seems a tad mean to try and put someone down who is seeking help. Now, I have a relative who is having the same issue on a 98 Bounder, his panel tells him that his jacks are not up while they are clearly up "all the way, Barb, so please don't throw any of your barbs at me, thanks." Does anyone know where the reservoir is located on a 98 bounder? No help is found in the manuals which came with the coach, 2nd hand purchase. I can't help him since my coach has no leveling jacks but rather levels on the air bags. Ray

RE: "Nasty attitude" on RV.net

I only partially agree with the OP. While people may be a little more on the edge because of today's high stress environment, I don't really perceive the comments were intended to be hurtful. There were some recent threads running about speed. Someone commented people were getting at each other a bit, but I never perceived it to be bad or truly hurtful. People have strong feeling about what they think and that's life. I don't believe there is intent to do any real harm. That is why I often feel the moderator over reacts to some stuff. People react, but they will get over it. Sometimes a thread just needs to take its course and settle out. It would all come out in the wash in the end. Don't take the shots too seriously. After all, if you want to drive 55 when the speed limit is 75, I might have words under my breath, but if I saw you broke down, I wouldn't hesitate to stop and help. Dave, I'm curious about the 55 vs 75 speed. Are you saying that if the maximum speed is 75 that you think everyone is required to drive at that speed. Seems to me that a fellow should be free to drive at any speed up to the 75. Far too many folks take the maximum speed to mean that it is the minimum speed that one should drive. Of course the problem is not generally folks driving well under the posted speed limit but those who think they should be driving well over that speed limit, they will tail gate you and try to push you into breaking the law. Well, that's my rant of the day. ;-) Ray
