RE: GPSI Skylight Install, screws not recommended? HOW

used a 2" W X 1/8" aluminum strip that overlaps the lexan---.That's what "flashing" is. It covers the joint but the screws don't go through the Lexan. Holes through the plastic will allow the plastic to start cracking around them. No holes, no cracks to leak.

RE: Your most comfortable car

Make your own choice, but you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't try either a Town and Country Limited or the top trim line Honda minivan before you waste you money on any sedan looking for comfort.Have an '05 Honda Odyssey EX-L, no nav or DVD as we don't need them. Leather seating all the way around, good HP (more in the newer ones), engine goes from 6 to 3 cyl at light throttle, get 17 around town and 27 on the highway holding 70 mph when legal. Rides nice, heated seats, lumbar support, and handles well.

RE: Monaco Monark Help

We are looking at purchasing an 08 30 SFS with 11K miles. It has a lot of extras but I want to know how the full wall slide has been working. Any problems or concerns? I'm in a bit of hurry as it "seems like a good deal".
Thanks for any assistance.Remember that Monaco is out of business and was bought by Navistar. There is no factory warranty on any production before the buyout. Make sure that you take that into consideration of the "good deal".

RE: It's supposed to be down in the 20°'s

An off-the-wall question, Deen: how DID you make the little zero by your '20'?
I use the Thunderbird e-mailer. When you use the write feature you can insert special characters. I keyin the special symbol and do a cut and paste. I Imagine You could do the same with any well-featured word processor.:B
After a number is installed (20) just hold down your "ALT" key and punch in the numbers "167"............20º

Well, ain't you fellers just about smarter'n a police dog! Thanks!Well, when I started with computers (1966) they had less computing power than the cheapest calculator you can buy at Dollar Tree.

Ours runs right at 180°-185° on the VMSpc and the dash gauge shows about the same.

RE: Oregon tire chain rules.

For some reason I was just reading the Oregon chain requirements and read something that seemed strange. If you don't have chains for your toad and it has tow brakes you can unhook the tow brake and be legal. I suppose they are afraid the toad will try to pass the coach when braking with chains if the toad brakes skid the tires without chains.
JimIn WA you're required to have chains on the trailer or towed. That way when you use your brakes the toad will not pass the MH. Even if it's just a drag chain to keep the toad straight.

RE: Demco Kar Kaddy

Has anyone bought one of these, had it shipped to their house, and assembled it themselves? I am reasonably handy with a wrench but I want to make sure that something as important as a dolly with which to tow a car is done right and safely.
Any comments? Thanks in advance.Actually I had it shipped to work since it cost about $75 extra for home delivery. The delivered it to the front door and our guys couldn't get it around the corner of the building. So I assembled it there during a snow storm. It's not a big deal, I did it all myself with just hand tools but they recommend two people. I did use a jack to get the frame up high enough to put the wheels/tires on. You will also need a torque wrench for setting the torque on about three bolts, the pivot point and bars that go from the axle to the tongue. About 75 ft lbs. Follow the included directions and you shouldn't have any trouble

RE: It's supposed to be down in the 20°'s

An off-the-wall question, Deen: how DID you make the little zero by your '20'?Hold down the "Alt" key and type "0176" on the keypad. That's the ASCII code for a degree symbol. "0162" is the "¢". Most good computer books will give you a list of the ASCII codes for the keyboard.

RE: It's supposed to be down in the 20°'s

I'm a little north of you Deen, can't make it out to the coach! It was freezing than warmed up and rained, after that it cleared up and froze again. It's like an walking on an ice rink here. JohnMy daughter lives in Sequim, guess I'll shoot her an email and ask how they're doing. Supposed to get down to 9° tonight or tomorrow here. Just checked the heaters, everything is fine now. Last week I found the 15 amp plug had pulled out I think a squirrel jumped on it. Now have the 30 amp plugged in since I have the heaters going.

RE: 50 Amp Coach on 15 Amp Circuit

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes it does have an energy management system that shows how much power we are using.
My husbands concern is the heat pump for keeping us warm. We do have a back-up gas furnace that we have never used.
His priorities are warmth, coffee in the morning with his TV and a "cold one" at night. Mine are warmth, coffee and the hair dryer :)
Looks like we'll be using propane for the fridge and the heat, which is what we thought. Again, thanks for the responses.Heat pump ONLY might run on a 15 amp circuit, then again it might not. It depends on how much voltage drop you experience. I wouldn't plan on it working at all, and if it does that's about all you can use. 15 amps is only 1800 watts, most hair dryers are 12-1500 so that alone uses most of the 15 amps. If the voltage drops so do the amps available. Voltage down to 106 = 1590 watts available and 106 volts can damage lots of appliances.
15 amps = 1800 watts
30 amp RV service = 3600 watts (30 X 120)
50 amp RV service = 12,000 watts (2 X 120 X 50) There are two hot legs each with a 50 amp breaker so that's why the "2" in the equation and why 50 amps can run so much more.

RE: I have three

I think some of us get a little too paranoid about having the exact, (dot right on money), tire pressure reading.
Persnonally...I don't get concerned with pressure readings that are up to 10psi one way or the other. I have my tires inflated to 110psi with temps at 50 degrees. On a cool morning, my TPMS will read temps in the upper 90's. Going down the road, they will read over 130psi.10 psi too high for the load (as per the tire charts) is OK on truck type tires, on the other hand, 10 psi too low is dangerous.

RE: I have three

Tire pressure gauges for my 22.5 tires, all three show a different reading. What is the absolute most accurate best quality gauge to buy to replace the ones that I have?Go to NAPA and buy a certified gauge, then set a tire using it and check all the gauges you have. Cost me about $35 incl tax as I remember. It also appeared that someone had bought it, used it to check their gauges and returned it. So watch for that ploy too.

RE: NADA Prices

Deen just gave you a perfect demonstration of why you shouldn't add anything for options. $35,000 extra for off-pricelist options and many were for removing walls. And the next year they offered "our" floor plan as a standard model. Guess they liked our changes!

RE: Yamaha EF2400IS

No, it's not 30a. It's 2400/120 amps.
120 AMPS? That's 14,400 watts. 2400 watts is 20 amps, 3,600 watts is 30 amps.

RE: Financing a new coach

I am curious.
What kind of attractive financing is available for buying a new rig?
What is the lowest interest rates, term of loan, etc?
mtnmanWhat bank? What Credit Union? What's your credit score? What's you're significant others credit score? How much do you owe on credit cards? How many credit cards do you have? What do you make per month? Have you ever had a bankruptcy? Have you .... Do you ... etc.
No way for anyone on this forum to tell you what you want to know.

RE: Home Base after Retirement

I'll be retiring in three years at the age of 53. My career choice has afforded me the ability to retire earlier than some people. The DW has not had good luck with her different career paths over the years. Her only retirement income will be SS. I started some investments years back, in hopes that they would allow her to retire early with me, but like many investments in our economy, they have not done as well as expected.
We currently live in Southern California where cost of living is high. If we were to sell our current home and move to a state where real estate is much more affordable, I believe I could afford to bring my wife home when I retire.
The question remaining is, where? I have bad sinuses and need to stay in a dry climate, which means we’ll need to remain in the Western U.S.
A co-worker suggested the St. George area of Utah. I’ve never been there but I will be adding it to my list of areas to visit prior to retirement.
I've come to the fine members of this forum for some additional home base recommendations.
Thanks!
CraigMine too, I retired at 51, some 12 years ago. Just can't go anywhere due to wife still working and having to raise two grandkids. We looked into the Yuma area as we have friends there but it's on hold till the kids are gone. When we do retire we'll have over $60,000/yr even without touching any of the 401's, or selling the house (may just lease it out for the income we'd get), that should allow us to travel as we want. Not sure we'll even get a home base.

RE: AC ReCharge a 230 cummins Winnebago Vectra

I would like some information on recharging a 1994 Winnebago Vectra with a 230 cummins diesel pusher engine. This only concerns the DASH BOARD AC.
ThanksThen we need more info about the dash air, you know, stuff like brand of the compressor, what's the problem, etc. Just the normal stuff you need to get a good answer.

RE: RV Pricing and Timing and Locations?

There used to be better deals in the south in the spring. People would go down for the winter and have health problems so they would sell their rigs there. Not sure if that holds true in this eceonmy or not though.

RE: What am I missing about a furnace

Ours run through the floor, but to heat the wet bay thoroughly I have to turn on the fan in the bay. Also helping is the refer/freezer in one of the bays (all are open to each other except for the wet bay. If I use the heat pumps or electric heaters I put either a small heater or light bulb in wet bay as the blower fan in the wet bay only works if the furnace is on. I could rewire that I suppose and have it run all the time when the switch is on. Hmm, that's not a bad idea, then I wouldn't need the heater or light down there.
