RE: Luggage Rack

What was the item you purchased on the site you mentioned to work with your existing cargo rack. I saw the one that looked like it might work. I just want to put some type of storage box ontop to put some oversized items such as extra hoses/extension cords and stuff. I don't have a lot of storage on my T/C. Do you have a photo of your setup? sorry no photo!! I got the "Black Widow" rack for $109.99-- of course there's the 30 buck S&H also but what can you do?? The instructions were written in very bad English to the point of being pretty close to worthless, but if you look at the picture of the thing on the box and give it a few minutes thought it's pretty easy to set up and install on your bars. Haven't been out with it yet but I'm sure it's gonna work well. First trip out I'm going to put a couple of reclining chars in it and when we go to Fremont (NE) in May I'll put the blue buggy up there!!

UHMW plastic

those that have made the centering guides and have used UHMW plastic a question-- can that stuff be bent pretty easy and what did you use for a heat source?

RE: Luggage Rack

Does anyone have any ideas on what to use to mount something ontop of the stock luggage rack that comes with a lot of campers. I was thinking about installing a cargo container on it, but what type of fasteners would I have to buy to attach to the existing rack. Thanks in advance. try these guys, I just ordered from them and they shipped my stuff right away http://www.discountramps.com

RE: Carrying the Blue Buggy

Gizmos, I use one of the "Over the ladder chair racks" from Camping World, along with bungee cords. It's easier to remove and reload than from the roof rack. well that would work except I already am hanging the ladders there, so that's out! What I'm thinking about now is maybe underneath the over hang of the camper using a hitch hauler on a hitch drop down extension type of thing

RE: Carrying the Blue Buggy

My baja buggy was orange and yellow and I hauled it on my 20' flatbed 2-axle car hauler trailer, tied down with chains and binders. :B well that answers it, I'll just paint the sucker orange and get some BIG binders and problem is over!! LOL

Carrying the Blue Buggy

How does anyone carry their blue buggy? If you put it on top on the rails, what are you using to lash it down? I don't need to carry it all the time but will need it in May when we go to Fremont (close to Omaha)!

RE: Front Strut Problem

I have over 50,000 miles and 5 years on mine. All kinds of roads and all kinds of weather. I would suggest you are not fully pushing in the strut and allowing the spring loaded retainer pin to snap back into position. Be sure to give them a good wiggle and pull after you attach 'em. well that's what I thought the first time it happened, but after checking everything you mention it happened again.I'm now wondering if the pins aren't coming out enough. I'll try several things before I drill em out and go to a SMALL hitch pin set up

RE: Front Strut Problem

front strut problem? We have a Lance and use the HappiJac tie downs along with the front struts (or shock absorbers). These are held to the truck at the hood with a couple of brackets that use a spring latch to hold the struts on. On two different times the struts came off these brackets. They held on the camper but came off and hit the mirror, so nothing was lost or broken and we did stop and reattach them. So I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen and has anyone modified them to keep this from happening again? I could use a small bungee to wrap around the connection and maybe stop that for maybe drill out the spring clips and use a very small hitch pin (if I can find any). Any ideas? Dan: I could also use wire ties Dale: The WAVE washers are behind the struts and the push pins are free moving, I'm wondering it they just don't come out far enough. When we take it out again we'll try using the shock cords around them and it that doesn't work then go to the wire ties and if that doesn't work then I'll drill those suckers and use some really small pins that I found today. In the long run it probably would be easier to use the pins but we'll see how happens> Thanks guys for your help!! Don't have one myself, but might you be able to safety wire it in place? Takes just a few minutes to wire, and even less time to cut when you want to remove. Dan

Xm radio yellow plug

I want to do a mod like Netboy has done with his XM radio antenna. I went to remove the yellow plug on the back of the XM receiver and for the life of me can't get it out. Anybody have any suggestions as to how to remove it? It's hopefully something kinda simple but I just can't see it!! thanks
