RE: Destin Florida

You'll have a great time.
I hate to say do a search for "Destin" in these forums but that's going to be a great way for you to get some quick info. There have been many posts on the place.

RE: Atwood XT Water heaters -- Liability lawsuit?

Spend the money and move on. You need a new valve and a lawsuit won't provide you with any immediate remedy.

RE: Quicksilver 6.0

Another member here does have that exact model so he'll probably chime in.
We have the 10.0 so I can speak to the build quality of Livin Lite products. In a word...outstanding.
The pics on their website don't do the camper justice. We bought ours sight-unseen and were very pleasantly surprised when we picked it up. We've used it a lot already and not a single thing is wrong with it. Not much to really go wrong. It held up very well in a severe thunderstorm with zero leaks.
I hope you'll get the info you're looking for once the 6.0 owner sees your post and replies.

Always used the truck lanes. My debit card worked at the pumps. Never had to go inside to pay...only to get the receipt.

RE: best place to list a PUP

I have sold many things on Craigslist including late model cars at full "clean retail". Don't believe for a second that you have to price something below its value just to make a sale.

RE: Qusetion about Craiglist

Great success with Craigslist. Most things we've listed sold within hours or days. One vehicle, however, took 2 weeks because it was a current year vehicle with a high selling price. Still sold nonetheless.
I use the anonymous email address provided by Craigslist.

RE: Are PUPs difficult / expensive to maintain?

4monkeys, not having a traditional PUP roof (hard) is not a factor. The air conditioning unit is mounted on a slide-out drawer on the side of the camper.
We've been in several storms. One paticularly nasty. Not a single leak anywhere. We seasoned the tent material per instructions before ever camping in it. The tent material is very sturdy. The tent walls move in strong winds but there was never any moment when we felt nervous. Very happy with how it handled a bad storm.
About buying local because of service...we don't have a Livin Lite dealer anywhere near us. Not a factor. No dealer service should ever be needed on these campers. There's nothing really on them that'll break. The internal water system is a hand pump from a 7 gallon portable jug. The electric wires throughout the camper are easily accessible. There's nothing that can't be repaired in your driveway even by a person with minimal mechanical skills. But seriously, you'd be surprised at how robust these campers are and how little there is that could break.

RE: Are PUPs difficult / expensive to maintain?

Thanks for the replies. I'm not interested in a lot of features. I looked at the LivinLite Quicksilver website, but the closest dealer is 2hrs away & on the phone they said they only have one on the lot, they weren't selling well and they hadn't ordered anymore. But I digress....less features = less upkeep, works for me.
Not sure of the dealer's motivation to mislead you on the Livin Lite Quicksilver. These PUPs are selling like crazy and the factory usually has a waiting list of orders. It was reported in rv publications that Livin Lite is one of the few manufacturers that is actually growing. They recently opened a brand new, larger factory.
Anyway, we own a 2010 Quicksilver 10.0. We never saw one in person but ordered through National Travelers RV in Arkansas. The first time I saw our camper was when I drove 11 hours to to pick it up. It was in perfect condition. NT sells a lot of these campers.
We love ours and use it a lot. Very minimal in the way of systems so there's not much to break. That's why we went this route. I wanted a basic unit that would last forever. I hope you noticed that the Quicksilver is built entirely out of aluminum. No wood anywhere. Nothing to rot or warp...ever. These are truly campers built for the long haul.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

RE: Ha! Pulled a good one on the salesman!

Too many salespeople don't take the time to educate themselves on the products they sell. They're too busy washing down candy bars with cans of Coke between smoke breaks.
I don't want to bore anyone with my own bad salesmen experiences but they're all too common. There are good ones out there but they're a rare breed.

RE: We Made Our Tent Decision

Totally agree with the comment about the Coleman Hot Water On Demand system. We use it with our camp kitchen and it's worth its weight in gold. I think we paid around $250 but that included a couple optional accesories. It exceeded our expectations and I'm hoping it lasts a long time.

For all of those who said unlimited hot water would that still apply if you had to pay for your shower at the campground?
I already pay for the shower at the campground.

RE: I'll use MY shower thank you

The showers at some of the Florida state parks we visit frequently are the cleanest I've ever encountered while camping. Large, private, and unlimited hot water. What's not to like?

RE: Help with FL State Parks......

Blackwater River State Park. Purest sand bottom river in the country. Many great spots to launch your kayak up river. The river runs through the campground which makes your exit all the easier. The campground is immaculate with the cleanest bathrooms I've seen in a state park. Less than 30 miles from the Gulf. This is a small campground and one of the best kept secrets of the FL kayaking community. Don't tell anyone I told you.
Alligators in Blackwater River?
The possibility exists with many of the waterways in FL. However, I have not personally seen any gators in the Blackwater nor have I heard of any recently. People swim in the Blackwater all summer long without concern.
This is a great kayaking river. Very relaxing because the current will make the trip effortless.
