The Suburban furnace owners manual says not to add a screen to the vents but I think I will. Thanks

Have a RV furnace ?...must read this
Well from a earlier post I had a problem with my furnace in my 5er. Always worked great, last week-end during a little camping trip the furnace wouldn't fire up and the blower would not spin up.
Today I started by testing the thermostat for 12volts…checked OK, then checked to see if the blower motor was seeing 12 volts…that checked OK.
Then I just out right removed the whole furnace, disconnecting the gas line, vents, power lines, and then pulled the entire unit out for a closer look.
The intake impeller wheel which draws in outside out from a outside vent was locked up and would not spin freely….then I knew this was the problem. I disassembled the blower housing and guess what ? bees had made a mud nest which locked up the impeller wheel and that was the problem. Put everything back together, checked for gas leaks and fired it up !!
I will now cover the outside vents with duct tape to avoid this, and maybe find a cover on longterm. (you need to remember to remove it)
Cost to fix everything zero dollars, time to fix it 4 hrs plus a trip home to get the shop vac and my little generator to run the shop vac!!!.
SO !!! YOU MAY WANT TO CLOSE OFF YOUR INTAKE VENT TO AVOID THIS.

Yeah, thanks, I've had that issue before and with my hot water heater. Took a few tries to fire up.

I stand corrected. It could be the sail switch. This switch is normally open but if it stuck in the closed position it would give the problem I'm having. I will
check everything this week-end. Thanks again

I don't think its the sail switch. That switch signals the gas valve to open once the blower is up to full speed or 75% I think. My blower wont even power up.
I will have to trouble shoot this over the week-end. Thanks for all the help. I will report my findings later. Thanks again

Bad sail switch would still allow the blower to fire up wouldn't it ?
So you had the same identical problem as me and it was the sail switch.
How did you check that the problem as the sail switch? No current to switch?
Also, disconnecting shore power and disconnecting the batteries might reset everything ?

Furnace would not work this week-end
Hey RVer's
I have a 2004 Larado 5er and my Suburban furnace would not work. It has ALWAYS worked everytime until this past week-end. I crank up the thermostat and nothing...just a click, no blower, no nothing
Any ideas ? I checked the fuses but that is all I checked.
Yes, we have the LP bottles topped off.
