RE: Cape Blanco, OR

4:00 PM is check in time as per all Oregon SP. but if their is a empty spot you can get it earlier, I have never had a problem getting in at around 2:00 PM.
During the off season I have seen people get in in the morning time, but during the busy season get in by 3 or 4 PM at the poplar parks or you may not get a spot.

RE: Cape Blanco, OR

We have been to Cape Blanco SP. many times and if you get their by 2:00 PM week days you will get a place. They have 30/50 amp service, water and the dump site is not usable ( have to dump in town or an other SP.), all sites are paved and they have showers and restrooms. The campground is 7 miles from the Hwy. ( paved all the way ) and is quiet. Lots of things to see and do in the area, have a great trip.

RE: Grants Pass FOG

I live 25 miles from Grants Pass and this is normal from Nov. to March, when it's not raining the fog is in unless we get some wind to push it out.
We have had the fog for a few days now along with below freezing days so the roads have ice on them. During the day some of the roads will be ice free but some areas will have ice all day, the hi temp today 12/25/09 was 32.
We have a light front coming in on Saturday that is going to get rid of the fog for a few days.
You can have fog all along I 5 anywhere so drive during late morning to early evening and check the trip check cams.
Let me know when you are coming through SO. Oregon and I will let you know what the weather is like.

RE: Oregon to Palm Springs CA

Marv Hoag, that is a good way to go to Palm Springs, I don't know why I didn't think of it as I have gone that way when we were in Apple valley a few year back.
I just got back from Long Beach , Ca. and I took 395 and like it much better than I-5

RE: Oregon to Palm Springs CA

Hi Neighbor,
take I-5 when the weather is clear over the Siskiyou and take I-5 to Hwy 58 over Tehachapi to 395 to 15 to 215 to 10 and in to Palm Springs.
Try to get to Hwy 395 and 15 before the afternoon traffic gets bad, I go in at around 11:00 am, sometimes it's still bad. check your map and you will see what Iam talking about. Check to see if it is fogy in central Ca. at the time you leave as it can be real bad. Don't take 395 out of Reno this time of the year, lots of snow and ice.

RE: US Hwy 6/ US 95 from Bishop to Carson City, NV

Coolbreeze,
Thanks for the come back, if the weather is bad I will come back on I-5 but I rather come and go using 395 I hate I-5, I will be towing my trailer and I like the back roads with less traffic.

RE: US Hwy 6/ US 95 from Bishop to Carson City, NV

Thanks for bring this up as I will be going to So. Ca. on 395 as I have in the past, leaving mid Oct. coming back the the first week in Nov. If it's snowing north of Bishop does it usually snow going Hwy 6 to 95 ?
and have you taken the 360 cutoff of Hwy. 6 to 95 ? or is it better to stay on 6 until you get to 95 ? Thank you

RE: Cutest little TT I've ever seen

Casita doesn't make a 5th wheel, Scamp and Escape are the only 5th wheel manufactures of molded fiberglass trailers.
Burro Trailers have been out of business for a time now but still have a web site and no one seams to know why it's still up

RE: Going back to work today

Year around school is fine as long as the kids are in school from mid Sept. until the end of Oct. so us retired people can have some quite camping.
When our kids were going to school we had to waite for the holidays to go camping, so now it's our turn to have some time to ourselves.
