RE: Wisesales.com or local dealer?

Bought mine from Mayberry's a few years ago - fired up right out of the box... For 185 bucks, I'd go with Wise...

RE: 12 Volt Help!!!!!

Battery cable polarity??? While most of us equate red and black colors with positive and negative voltages, trailer manufacturers frequently use white and black colors which correspond to the electrical codes... If these colors are used, black is hot or positive and white is ground or negative...
Are your cables connected correctly??? Additionally, in my TT, the battery has a fuse located in a little plastic box sitting on the TT tongue just aft of the battery compartment - have you checked for fuses coming off the battery positive terminal???

RE: Looking to replace my T.V.

My mechanic charges $100 for inspection of a "new" car... Probably about the same for a truck...

RE: Little confused - propane overfill?

When my dealer fills my tanks he has the tank on a scale... There is also a mechanical readout of gallons on the pump and of course there is the 80% fill valve too...

RE: Wireless thermometer

I have a wire hook on mine that I fashioned from 14 ga wire and I hang it on the grab bar on the left side of the entry door... We usually have the awning up so it's in the shade and we bring it in when we leave...

RE: Brake Controller question

Just a personal opinion, but I would lose the Scotch-Lok and strip back the brake wire and solder it...
I removed a ton of dealer installed Scotch-Loks from my braking system a few years ago and the braking performance increased dramatically... I would never depend on them in a critical situation like braking... Just my opinion - other opinions may vary...

RE: How does charging system work on a TT

Tystevens,
The converter in the TT should do a decent job of keeping the battery charged when plugged... Most late model TT's will have a 3 stage charger which usually do a pretty decent job of charging... Assuming the battery is fully charged when you leave for a destination, the truck charging system will do an adequate job of maintaining that charge assuming you don't run down the TT battery before you get there...
If you look at your converter and give us the make and model number, we can tell you how good it will work (or not work)...

RE: Toilet question

From what I know of it, the mounting centers for the bolts will be standardized for a given diameter pipe just like a house toilet but there could be differences in toilet width, height, and depth...
You should carefully measure the distance from center line of the mounting holes to the back of the existing toilet, also measure the sides and front, and then compare those dimensions to the one your thinking of buying...
I would also check the height from the floor as there are low profile RV toilets as well as platforms to make an existing RV toilet higher...

RE: HD Camcorder

While the newer technology is nice and I can't really argue about the flash memory as I have always had good luck with it, we have been extremely happy with our Sony Mini DVD camcorder... Not HD but you wouldn't know it by looking at it... Mini DVD's record directly in MP2 format so there is no conversion loss if your editing and rerendering because the MP2 file doesn't rerender...
As far as media is concerned, we use -RW dvd's which are of course rewritable... After downloading my dvd's to my editing system, the mini dvd's are reformatted and ready to go again... Just my preference and it works very well for us...

RE: Popup vs. Small TT

A lot of it depends on your personal preference as to whether your prefer to camp under tentage or your prefer the hard sides of a TT...
Given the children, my preference would be towards a small trailer, say 20-25' or so... It will give you all the convenience items you desire and still be easy to tow and there won't be any need to dry tentage if caught in the rain - easier to set up too... Assuming you went this route, you would then have to deal with storage if your local ordinances do not allow you to keep it at home...
Really boils down to your preferences for amenities and storage... You should be able to tow either one without any difficulties assuming you don't go too large in TT size...
