RE: CJ 5 vs CJ 7?

I think you're talking about Harry Lewellyn, the Silver Coyote. I met him in the Big Bear area about 8 years ago. He was leading a group of newbie four wheelers on a snow run. He was driving a stock 4x4 mini truck (Ford Ranger if I remember right) and the rest of the group were similarly equipped. He tried to follow my group of moderatly built, highly experienced drivers and ended up getting stuck himself. We got him out and helped to turn his group around as we were getting into deeper snow (up to two feet).
Anyway, he was a nice guy, but the vehicles were not properly equiped for the snow.
Does anyone remember the "Desert Fox" or it might have been "Granvil King" I don't remember the name but He used to wright for one of the 4wheel mags back in the 70's and 80's. He used to tout the rugged
dependability and simplicity of the Jeep in isolated extreme situations. I remember one story were he took out the "offending" piston and rod. Plugged the cylinder with a log and drove back on 3 cylinders. I really miss those stories.
Thanks
That Pic of him does look familiar but I am not sure it is the same guy I was thinking of. I remember how he used to wright....Those little import 4x4 were toys....Did not call them TOY-otas for nut in......Never thought I would hear of him in anything but a JEEP....Oh well I guess everything can change with the passage of time.

RE: CJ 5 vs CJ 7?

Most of the info above is correct enough for OP to make his mind up.
Just a little added info though if you don't mind.
CJ= Civilian Jeep This was the designation given to most jeeps sold to individuals.
DJ= Delivery Jeep This was the designation given to Mail or Postal jeeps
YJ= Yuppie Jeep This was the designation given to the Jeep after Chrysler messed them up. :B
Right now I have a 1952 M38A1 the first year for the rounded fender jeep (looks like the CJ5 with minor differences) If the design can last this long and still work as well as it does I think some one did a good job on the ORIGINAL.
How do they say....IT'S A JEEP THING.....YOU WONT UNDERSTAND.
My toad is a "BABY JEEP" Samurai......They did a good job of duplicating and downsizing.
Its functional and dependable just like the original.
No I would not like to drive either of them to Alaska but it is nice to know I could if I had to.
:W
P.S.

RE: Procrastination and packing.

DW and I will have been married for 23 years this May....Best trips we have taken so far are the times we just got up and decided to leave.....Once was for a week down south and the other was for two weeks out to CA....That being said we are quite religious about having things clean and maintained and gassed up after each trip so we "CAN" leave at a moments notice. Its kind of part of our emergency preparedness routine.
GOWITH IT AND HAVE FUN :B

RE: shower head

I have run into the problem of a temperature difference when turning on and off the water at the shower head.....It has not been to big of a deal for me personally but I have noticed it....The "repair" for the problem that I have seen posted required putting back flow valves on both the hot and cold water lines just before the handle. I have never seen that just changing the shower head for a faucet sprayer would fix it. It is the same thing because the shut off is still at the same place

LCD Tv and freezing

I know this subject was posted to death last fall....Just wanted to let everyone know I left mine in all winter because paperwork with TV mentioned nothing about operating temps.....It got very cold for a very long time this year in Michigan.......Just took the Rv out for shake down run last week end and the TV is fine....If the cold was going to affect my tv I am sure it would have done it this past winter...:B
No need for replies
Just posted FYI.
