RE: Toilet install ?

So is this stuff I can buy at Home Depot or an RV thing?

RE: Question on cleaning used TT

I once bought a used trailer and went over all the wood work with a wood moisturizing product then discovered none of the interior was real wood. Simple green works well for our interior cleaning. Congrads on your new trailer. Have fun. Lots of fun.

RE: Oregon State Park Reservation System

I just got through writting a letter to them telling how I felt about closing down for two weeks during this time of year. If private busness ran this way it would not fly. Why did they not do this in November? Two weeks in a crazey amount of time during this busy reservation time. I'm guessing they really could not care less about the tax paying consumers. Go figure

Toilet install ?

I am replacing a THETFORD Aqua Magic Mark 4 toilet with a brand new Mark 50. New unit is about two inch's taller. I can bend fresh water PVC pipe comming horizontal from wall to compensate for aditional rise in fitting. Or should I find some adaptor fitting to compensate for the two inch rise? In other words will bending the pipe a little make a problem now or later? Thanks much.

RE: Hybrids and Minivans

WE have towed our HTT all over our home state of Oregon and as far north as Canada and south to Mexico all with our previous Dodge Grand Caravan which we retired with 125K. That van as well as our new Kia has a FACTORY tow rating of 3.500 pounds. Our trailer loaded tips scales at 3,490. We did blow a torque converter at 84K. While you may disagree with towing a hybrid with a mini van the FACTORY specs do not in our case. It should also be noted that our fuel mileage towing is 14 MPG average. It pulls grades fine and we have done emergency stops all tracked well. Criticize if you like. We have the mileage logged that says all is well.

RE: WHY NOT ?

Thanks. I knew there was a reason. Did not realize it was amperage draw. Yes, a quality switch is indeed in order. Thanks, once again, for the help.

WHY NOT ?

I just went through my second 12 battery cut off switch. I had purchased both from HARBOR FREIGHT as they were cheap, easily mounted to the battery box and had a key. This evening I go into my HTT and no lights. Battery is fine. I jump over switch and lights come on. So I will be replacing this switch. I did like this style as it had a key. Too bad about that. My question is why could I not use a good quality A.C. wall switch for this application? There must be some good reason as I have never seen it done. Thanks.

RE: How to measure tire wear?

My thanks to all. My original question has now been answered and lots of new info not all previously considered. Thanks again.

How to measure tire wear?

I cannot remember how to measure tire ware as in tread depth. Do the same rules apply for tandem axle trailer tires as for tow vehicles? Thanks

RE: Why not buy a hybrid?

We have had our HTT for five years. It is the best space to weight ratio. Down sides are as follows 1. Camping in the rain means setting up at home to dry 2. Noisey neighbors cannot be muffled by walls 3. Cannot really lock it up with ends open 4. Set up time We eliminated condensation issues with electric dehumidifier. For the record out HTT has never leaked either. It's not all bad. Like the one time when we boondocked and had bunk end windows open. We watched a herd of Elk pass within 100 feet of us while we were in bed. Priceless.

RE: HOOK UP SEQUENCE ?

Hi Ken I am towing within specs. My problem is with the air bags. Thank you for your help.

RE: HOOK UP SEQUENCE ?

So do all agree the bags get inflated beyone 10 PSI after trailer is hooked up? If so then I have been doing it wrong. What do you say?

RE: HOOK UP SEQUENCE ?

Not sure of bag mfg. I was told not to exceed 50 PSI. So I never checked my pressure while hooked up. Have I been doing it backwards? Should I have been adding air after HTT is hooked up with or before bars? What is the proper sequence? I always put in air prior to hook up with previous mini van TV. Different bags, different van. What do you all think?

HOOK UP SEQUENCE ?

I just discovered one of my rear suspension air bag assist units is blown out. This is the second time this has happened in less than a year. So I am wondering if my putting 35 PSI into the bags prior to hooking up trailer and load leveler bars is not right and therefor with load of trailer exceeding my air bag PSI limit? 35 PSI is what it takes to bring my van within 1/2 inch of non trailer heigth and TV &* HTT are all level. I was told by Les Schwab that the previous bag ruptured at the seam for what that is worth. Any thoughts on this? Thanks so much to all who lend some insight here. You are what makes this board great. I still want to have you all over for steak but DW says no way.

RE: Tucked away for the season

I will winterize next month but our HTT is always on stand by for a spontanious weekend outing. Some of our best and most memorable camping weekends have been during the winter. But then we do not live where you do. Hang in there. It is a great time to plan next years outings.

RE: Camping in sub-freezing weather

No worries. We often camp in sub freezing. Temps you listed should not be an issue. We have never had sewage tanks freeze and a little heat will spare your inside pipes. A remote chance shower trap could freeze if temps do not warm above freezing during the day. Pour a small amount of RV anti freeze in the trap. Just not a big deal for us anyway. Merry CHRISTmas.

RE: Why do I need a cover?

Lots of good replies to your question. My thoughts are a cover is cheaper than being surprised by water damage from a leak you did not know you had. Aside from obvious protection from the elements. My portable car port works well for me giving me both cover and year round access. Good question. Best of luck

RE: Help, I'm doing this Mod Now (Hunter Thermostat)

So is this thermostat programmable or remote control operated? Always wanted a thermostat that would crank up the heat on those cold mornings. Thanks for sharing the pics.

RE: TP

It is really not a concern since installing the sprinkler like tank flusher kit. We just hook up a fresh water line and tank is flusghed of all waste. No worries.

RE: Cooking and Baking with a Conventional Oven in a 23B

I have learned to be sure all the pans you need will actually fit into the oven before you bother storing them in the rig. My Atwood runs a bit hotter than indicated and heats more in center. Also oven puts out a surprising amount of heat so open a window. Otherwise all is good. I took interior oven measurments and went pan shopping for trailer bake ware. Also be sure all spices etc,. are on board. My kids love to cook when we camp. It is all pat of the fun.
