Dick Smith from here in Australia was not a fan of his F550 based Earthroamer when it broke down several times on his trip across Russia/ Siberia etc to Australia.It was left for 6 months in Mongolia before it eventually was repaired and came to Australia.
His sarcastic comment went over the heads of Ford US and Earthroamer
Breaking down in the truck was one of the highlights of the trip, Mr. Smith told reporters
It seems some people are glamored by the name Earthroamer and forget it is powered by an unreliable ford diesel. When they break they stop.

Since you already to this point maybe have a quality boat shop make a riser and have it fiberglassed in and gelcoated to match the top of the rv and re installl the skylight on this new flange. Never have a problem again with the sky light

All the units mentioned are all nice units but you said you want a coach for use through the winter. Does that mean continued temps for more then several days below freezing? If so you will want to look for a true four season coach with enclosed and heated holding tanks. Some of the coaches mentioned have tanks exposed under the belly others rely on 12volt heating pads( not good if you are not plugged in)Take a look and see if the dump valve compartment is heated also so you can dump your tanks and not worry about frozen valves. Other areas to pay attention to is how big is the battery box and how many batteries can it hold. What size of furnace and see if you can get the new two stage furnace( saves on battery power and LP)If you are buying a diesel make sure the on board gen is also diesel so not to have to worry about LP consumption.

Lets see if I can help. I used to own a 2004 9'6" snowbird. Of the four ten guage wire to the battery box
1 to the converter
2 to the camper pig tail
3 to the jacks
4 to the future solar regulator connection point (behind a panel above the radio in the 9"6")
Unscrew the camper female connector where the truck plugs in and pull it out some distance. Locate the wire coming from the battery box within that connector and confirm with a multimeter you have 12 volts to the ground wire also in that connector. Plug in the truck to it and the check you have charging voltage present at that pin now. I suspect ypu will find that the wire is corroded or loose back in that connector. There is no battery seperator on this unit that I could find .... mine was in my truck.

Several have it. My only concern, comming from the automotive industry, would be letting the coach builder touch the engine coolant system. Too many variables (flow, volume, etc) to calculate, and a much longer run would put variables that I don't know if I would like.
On another note, the water heater WILL help heat the engine, you just need to get it running.
The whole idea of the pre heat is to warm the engine prior to starting.The large classA units have an auxilary pump to recirculate the water from the water heater to the main engine to warm PRIOR to starting.

Yup our Bigfoot has it too ..... great option ...... the only thing that is missing in my opinion is the ability to use it in reverse to pre heat the engine in cold climates. If you were parked over night in below freezing temps and the water heater was on LP it would be great to flip a switch to turn on a pump to circulate the warm antifreeze back through the motor for an engine pre heat. I guess you can't have everything.

Looking good and good on you for being able to do a quality install yourself.There will always be nay sayers chirping and preaching about the manufactures recomondations and wether or not it has been tested by polotitians. I have done a similar install on my C class ... see pics here My gen retrofit. I have close to 100 hours on this set up and the CO inside has never gone off ....never. With the previous Onan which is approved and designed for the location the CO detector would always go off after about two hours of use. So much for the therory that if it has been approved that it is safe . What a pile of brain wash nonsense. Keep up the good work. I t is nice to see there are still afew people out there that can think for themselves and do not need a product information guide to decide wether it is safe or not.

SS water lines I don't think thats going to happen ! Maybe a manufacturer willl entertain the idea of a SS tanks but I highly doubt SS water lines are going to happen.
