RE: Two Tone Automobiles

Where have all the two tone cars and trucks gone? It is rare today to see one painted two tone. I guess the auto manufactures went to solid colors to cut production cost. But I am sick of the boring solid colors. Bring back the flare of the 60's and 70's!
What do you think? You like the boring solid colors?
2 tones are much better----
There are people who come into our lives for a season. (Did you mean reason, instead of season?)
No sir I wrote exactly what I was meaning to write. TO help you understand people come in and out of your life...just as the seasons come and go.

That is the only color car my grandfather had...BLACK and only Fords. His last one was a 1965 Farline.

RE: What to do with boxes of old family photos?

Well we had a Preacher one time that was talking about the end of ones life and how all the little nick nacks we hold so dear and spent our good hard earned money on will sit out on a gargage sale table and be sold for pennies on the dollar. This is so true when you really think about it. My kids just blow off some of the things I think are important. I am hoping like someone else posted here that one day once they have kids of their own they might be more interested in family history and why some of the junk we have around the house is important to us.
I do know that I wish I could sit with my parents and ask them to tell me more about their childhood, where they first met, where did they go on their first date what is their most memorable Christmas and stuff like that. But those things were not important to me years ago but now as I enjoy what I figure is my mid life years they are.

RE: When to replace hitch ball?

Wow I have never seen a trailer hitch ball that was in such bad condition it should be changed. If you guys are wearing out your hitch ball I can only imagine what your trailer coupler looks like. I would be more worried about it wearing out because it is very thin in comparison to the hitch ball.

RE: What's your plans for TV disaster?

Hi all,
Here’s the scenario. You use your tow vehicle to tow your TT four or five hundred miles from home, set up camp, and all is well. You decide to jump in the TV to run down the road to the local Wallyworld, ice cream shop, etc., and it happens. You’re involved in a major vehicle accident that totals your TV. What’s your plan for getting your TT back home? Can you usually rent a tow ready vehicle to get back home? Sometimes I’m leery of doing much traveling in the TV just for this reason. I would like to hear about your back up plans, real case experience, etc. dealing with this issue.
Thanks
Since your asking about what I would do if my TV was totaled I will answer as if it were. Since it may take weeks or months to settle with the insurance company I see a few choices. One I could just go buy a new TV and two I could hire a hot shot driver to tow my camper home for me while I follow in the back in a rental. The other would be to ask to leave the camper parked at the park in overflow for a fee or find a storage place that will hold it for me. I think if the storage place is close enough you probably could get a fellow camper to tow yours to the site for you. I would be glad to help anyone out who would approach me if they had this sort of problem.
Hope that this helps to ease your mind about camping away from home. I have to admit I never even thought about what I would do until I read your post.

RE: What to do with boxes of old family photos?

Mountain Lover I have a facebook account with many of my relatives as my friends. I posted a folder there with "old photos" as the title where my kin folk can see pictures of our grand parents, aunts and uncles and there they too can down load a copy and either save it or print a copy out. Since I did that several others have posted folders with "old pictures" in them for all of us to enjoy the old memories.
One cousin recently told me that I have more pictures of our Great Grand Father than anyone else.
Posting those pictures on facebook has been fun.

RE: What to do with boxes of old family photos?

Bonefish I can feel for you and your husband. It will be 13 years in the fall that my father passed. Today I will finally sign papers that are to put me in possession of my share of his and my mothers estates. 13 YEARS, all the while one brother has had use of everything. It has only cost me $9,000 in attorney fees to get to this point. Needless to say I do not speak to him.

RE: What to do with boxes of old family photos?

I have some that I too received when my mom passed away. I have scanned many of them and have them on disk now. Some of the photos I just do not have a clue as to who the people are. Those photos of people I have never personally known really mean nothing to me other than my grand parents. So I guess we are all different as to what things we hold dear to us. If you cannot part with them why not just put them in the attic and one day your son can make the decision as to keep or discard them.

NCBounder you got to see what was left of Cameron. Had you ever gone through there before? Two hurricanes did a toll on Holly Beach and Cameron.

RE: Cajun RV Park in Biloxi, MS

I just wanted to give an update on the Cajun RV Park. The park is very clean, well run and very spacious. The pool area was very nice too. It is not a very deep pool at most 4.5 foot but you could cool off in it. Those who were running the park were very friendly and helpful.
One draw back is that the sites are not paved. We had a small cement pad that fell just right for the camper door. The site was level and we did have a couple rain showers and the site drained well. We were in site 16.
I had paid upfront online for 2 nights stay. I had called and told them we were going to arrive one day early. We were not able to do so and I was surprised that I was not charged for that night!
The beach was very clean. Yes there are still some piles of sand that they are going through to get out debris but the majority of the beach is clean and looks great.
We enjoyed our stay. The water park in Gulf Island was a little disappointing but we still mananged to enjoy ourselves and get some sun.

Cajun RV Park in Biloxi, MS

I was looking for some reviews on this park. We found it online and are planning a trip to that area and wanted a campground that was within walking distance of the gulf. Looking forward to your replies. Pete

RE: What do you use for a calendar-electronic, memory or book ?

I mostly use my cell phone and I have put in repeating appointments, birthdays etc. with a weeks notice so I won't let one pass me by. We also put appointments on the white board in the kitchen to help us all remember who has what.

RE: Are you the Parent of a High School Grad? I need your INPUT!

I just copied and pasted what I recently posted in another forum I belong to. It cost us 80 bucks for the cap and gown. Read the rest of my post to see all the other expenses we have or we are going to encounter.
I need a loan! My youngest son a senior this year took home his graduation packet yesterday. So we sat down and did a quick list of names to see how many announcements we would need. We decided we need around 125 or so. So we then began looking at the price sheet. Of course the packages only have 50 announcements so the other 75 we have to purchase at .85 cents a piece. You are better off purchasing a package than trying to buy the individual pieces separately. So the package with 50 announcements and all the other goodies he wants is $233.00 bucks, plus the $63.75 for the extra announcements, then on top of that the cap, gown and accessories for graduation is another $80.00 bucks. $12.00 for shipping and lucky only 4% sales tax for a total of $404.30.
Ok so that is part of it. Next thing is the year book ad. That is a popular thing here at home so in the mail was the form for the year book ad. For a full page color ad which would allow us to put as many as 12 photos runs $300.00 a half page $225.00 and so on. So we grab last years annual to see what the other families have been doing…Don’t you hate having to keep up with the Jones…..Heck there are not any Jones in our area! Any way most are buying the FULL PAGE ads. So there goes another $300.00 bucks. Our total now is up to $704.30.
Now we need him to take his senior portraits. I can only assume that we are looking at another 2 to 3 hundred for those. Our running total with 3 hundred for the pictures is at $1004.30.
We still have the baseball and track season to go through. He never sells all his raffle tickets so there is more money there, plus there is the rental of tuxedoes throughout the year for Homecoming, Prom, Athletic Banquet, and the Senior Dance. And there is a need for corsages for him and the girls. Oh those are only for his school not including the one or two others he attends at other schools. The tux rental is somewhere near $175.00 or so per pop.
It does not stop there. Graduation party, before graduation and one the night of no idea yet on the cost of those. And of course, the additional cost for the rental of a Limousine for him and his buddies to ride in.
This is one expensive kid! Just have to grin and bare it.
