RE: Cleaning Hydraulic Jacks

I use a dry silicone lube (as per my Lippert owner's manual). I spray the jack legs then wipe them off to get any residue or grit/dirt off them.

RE: Bent Base Plate

................. Thanks to Fleetmasters RV In Kenner LA for the great job in making this repair.
I won't even mention the guys that messed up my installation, except to perhaps let Blue Ox know what I think of them.
Glad it worked out for you.
I would definitely let Blue Ox know if it was one of their dealers. There's no excuse for shoddy work that could hurt someone.

RE: Where can I fill the water tank

I always fill my tank at home even if we are going to water hook-up place.
In 2005 we were at a campground that had a power failure due to a storm; no water for 3 days because their pumping system was run on electricity. In 2006 we hit a campground in Pa that had a well contamination issue.
I no longer take a chance.

RE: Mildew on Awnings

.......... I think they are asking how you do it if you don't have the manual awning, but the automatic type. If I ever have to do mine, the only thing I can think of is a long handled brush, a step ladder, a $20 bill, and a teen age grandson.
Actually the awning on our mh is electric (Carefree Eclipse) and I extend out about half, climb on the roof and wash it down using my extension brush after which I extend it all the way and wash the rest of it. I hose the whole thing down then leave it out to dry.

RE: Mildew on Awnings

Just curious, HOW do you do an awning completely with a Magic Eraser?? People are having a hard time trying to do it with a long handled brush, wonder how it's done with an eraser? I can barely reach the top of mine with a long handled extension brush, don't know how I'd do it with one of those little erasers.
From my previous post above;
For the topside, if you have a typical manual awning, pull the awning legs off the trailer at the bottom where they clip and slide/lift the arms under the trailer so that the awning is flat against the trailer. You can then hose down and wash it (ladder or extension brush). For the underside, I used to use a step stool to wash the awning down.
I use a ladder and the Magic Eraser while the entire awning is flat against the side of the trailer. I've been able to do an entire awning (both sides) with a Magic Eraser in about 30 minutes.

RE: dealing with money

For an extended trip I notify my bank (credit card issuer) as to where I will be traveling and I use a combination of credit card and debit cards. I never have more than maybe $100 in cash on me (usually $50 or less).

RE: Mildew on Awnings

How do you scrub the center of the awning?
Even with it as low as it will go, I can't reach the center especially nearest the trailer.

Other than Alaska, we'd like to spend about 6 weeks touring Newfoundland which is the only province I've never been to.

RE: Out of province medical coverage

I've never had to use my Quebec Medicare outside the province but my sister-in-law who resides in Mississauga (On) has had to visit a clinic here in Quebec. She paid up front and claimed against the Ontario system.
Things are so screwed up here in Quebec lately from the medical perspective, it's a wonder anything works at all. Just my opinion.

RE: Bent Base Plate

They must have been loose and did the damage as you traveled. They require inspection for tightness. At this point you now need the attachment point repaired by having a welder secure the tow frame to the vehicle frame. The bolt holes are now oblong and unless they have new plate steel welded to them, a bolt system will not work. Get a certified welder to do it.
I agree, my thoughts exactly as I was reading Hurger's post.
Reminder to self; I need to go out and check my base plate bolts.

Too much of a hazzle to collect it just for a very few dollars; besides I buy it in bulk anyway since I also need it for my swimming pool drain system.

RE: Out of province medical coverage

If you are under 65 a VISA gold card from a Canadian chartered bank gives you 30 consecutive days coverage anywhere in the world an unlimited number of times. I imagine Mastercard has a similar program.
Which Visa Gold has 30 days if you are under 65?
My Visa Gold has the following coverage;
age 59 or under is 48 days
age 60-64 is 23 days
age 65-75 is 15 days
age 75 plus requires a call to the card issuer.
I'm 62 this year and would be interested in the 30-day coverage.
