RE: Just Had a Good Laugh

It's just like driving a clutch, some folks have it and some folks don't, no matter how much they practice.

RE: If you had to purchase again what would it be?

We've only owned one, it's perfect for us and presently nothing else interests us.

RE: What is a Big Rig

Oh for Pete's sake, no one uses the term 'Big Rig' because they want to be like semi drivers. Get real. Iris :R

RE: What is a Big Rig

An 18 wheeler commercial semi-truck and trailer combination. That's what I have always considered a big rig.

RE: Best inexpensive leveling device

We boondock and have had to do alot of leveling over the years, never had the plastic things and different pieces of wood different thicknesses work great for us. We carry 2 pieces of 1/2 plywood and several pieces of 2x6s with a 45 degree angle cut on the ends, never had a problem backing or pulling the trailer up on them. I also carry a few 4x4s and all of the boards are about 12" in length. http://i42.tinypic.com/11hs08k.jpg We dig holes, http://i43.tinypic.com/rk7jw7.jpg And stack wood, these two pics were taken in the same spot. http://i43.tinypic.com/15oypt3.jpg We also have extra wood to raise the front too. http://i40.tinypic.com/w98u48.jpg We carry an extra step too, sometimes the front is lower than the rear. We liked it here because we camped at the edge overlooking a beautiful canyon. the view from the dinette was awesome.

RE: Question about freezing temperatures and risk . . .

The water lines inside out trailer never froze this winter until it reached minus 17º at night. The line inside never even froze with night time temps 5º below zero and day time highs below 20º. With temps never reaching above freezing for weeks at a time they only froze that one time. We use space heaters instead of the furnace so all I did was fire up the furnace heating the floor and it only took about a 1/2 day to thaw the pipe. We still had cold water in the shower and bathroom sink, the line to the water heater and kitchen sink froze. Once the temps went back up to at least zero we never had another problem with the pipes freezing.

RE: 12 Volt LCD flat screen at Costco

We have two Rosen LCD TVs in our travel trailer that were built for automotive use. They are powered with 12v and draw less than one amp. They aren't cheap but they fit our needs perfectly.

RE: Campground etiquette

My number one pet peeve is people walking through our site. What bugs you? Other campers.

RE: For you whiskey lovers

I have a decanter of Jim Beam that is 35 years. I don't know how it would taste. I quit drinking years ago! DW keeps it for a keepsake. http://i47.tinypic.com/2lu6nuu.jpg Here's my 38 year old or 556 month old bourbon. I doubt that I will ever open it either, my dad gave it to me just a few years ago.

RE: NRA Sticker on Motorhome

I personally don't think it's a wise idea. It just lets the bad guys know there may be guns inside. Same as a "Insured by S&W" sticker. You wont find one on anything I own.

RE: Do you drink the water....

In the six years that we have owned our travel trailer 99.9% of the water in our tanks came out of our faucet and yes we drink it.

RE: Polaris 4 Seat-RZR

Polaris has already shipped one to my friend and he's expecting any day. 108" long, wow! Yeah, it does "look" long, but it's only 10' 10" overall (only 1', 5 1/2" longer than a Rhino) with a wheelbase of 103" - it looks small sitting in my garage, but big next to other side x sides. The RZR S is 2' shorter. That makes the wheel base 1" shorter than a full size Ford Bronco.

RE: I need a good, loud horn.

Typical American driver who cares about nobody but themselves. As long as I'm not hit I don't care if my actions kill somebody else. LOL :R

RE: I need a good, loud horn.

Every try of finding a 1970's vintage car horn? .... I had a set of old Cadillac horns on a Triumph that I used to own. It's really important when you have a small, low-slung car to have a loud horn. They worked! Also try JC Whitney's selection. I put a pair of older Cadillac horns on our ATV to get folks attention when we want to pass them (scares the living he11 out of them LOL). Always like the sound of the older Cadillac horns.

RE: From what you know of RV parks, would many allow this?

It wouldn't fit in our park and I dont think most folks would care for the noise while you were working.

RE: Looks like I'm in the market for another bus...

Diesel and full air brakes...maybe a pusher, maybe a FE. But I'll miss the standard shift. :( You'll enjoy the slushbucket and you can drive with just one leg.
