RE: advantages of pop up trailer camper vs rv..

Cost of ownership, PU wins hands down. Also, having the ability to leave the campgrounds without "breaking camp" is a nice feature with the PU. Turk2500

RE: Weighed the TV and got a shock

Don't know about the accuracy of the scale you went across, but IMO a lot of folks would be surprised on what their TV's weighed once loaded for camping. Turk2500

snip.....Any other states where they are opening? I checked the following place out a couple of years ago, and thought it would make my short list if I was in the market: Blue Ridge Mountains Motorcoach Resort Turk2500

RE: Can I pull TT with my 1/2 Ton

Without the real numbers for your truck and trailer none can say. Therefore all answers, both no and yes are stictly guesses. IMO the best advice thus far. Turk2500

snip.....Also, which sway and brake controller would u recommend?...snip Would be helpful to know what you will be towing the TT with, and what model WD hitch you will be using. Turk2500

RE: Tires rubbing underside of trailer

I agree with Les, it looks like it will take an axle flip to get clearance. If the hanger holes are on 2" centers you will only gain 1" additional clearance unless you change the center equalizer as well. Wasn't there some TT's out there that had some bad axles that produced close tire/fender well clearances? Thought Jayco had a couple that had to be replaced on some Jay Feather models (?). Turk2500

RE: Reese duel cam setup???

snip......but does he have seven links on one side and eight on the other?....snip Yes, it did appear to be, and one of the reason's I referred the OP to the Towing forum sticky on the subject of the Reese HP Dual Cam set-up in my initial reply. Waiting to see if the OP has any further questions after reviewing the sticky, or making some adjustments on his own. snip....Your chains should be straight up and down to...snip With the Reese HP Dual Cam the chains can be at an angle since the cam arm doesn't move during a TV turn. RE: Reese duel cam setup???

snip......The GOAL is to have the spring bars paralell to the trailer frame when latched up for travel....snip Skip, Since the OP is using trunnion style spring bars, it would be more accurate to add to your statement that when using trunnion style springs bars in many cases they may be at an angle to the TT frame and the HP Dual Cam hitch will function just fine (upon confirmation of component clearances). RE: Towed it home, scared to death!

snip....under LESS than ideal conditions a properly loaded trailer with a capable TV WILL (not should) not sway. If conditions get so bad that you need the little bit of sway reduction a sway device offers then one won't save any bacon....snip The reality is that there are an infinite number of "LESS than ideal conditions" (and the definition of) as there are TV/TT towing combinations. When one is faced with "LESS than ideal conditions" the incorporation of an anti-sway control device IMO will provide an added level of control even with a "properly loaded trailer with a capable TV". In many cases it may also prevent the start of a sway event. Turk2500

RE: Towed it home, scared to death!

snip....Wells Cargo builds lots of big trailers to haul heavy loads, and they recommend NOT installing a WD hitch....snip Not true. Wells Cargo states very clearly in their Safety Tips the following: "When you are hitched to the trailer, make sure both the tow vehicle and trailer ride level. If the hitch weight makes the tow vehicle "squat" in the rear, you will need to purchase an equalizer hitch to eliminate this problem. A tow vehicle that rides low in the rear will not steer properly and may cause damage to the rear axle, hubs, and tires from an overload situation." Turk2500

RE: Reese duel cam setup???

Jason, Hard to tell from the photos if your settings reflect proper weight transfer & hardware clearances. What is your ground clearance below the cam with your present 8 chain links under tension? You may want to review the lower portion of this Towing forum sticky for insight into proper setup & adjustment of the Reese HP Dual Cam hitch. Turk2500

RE: Delamination Question

Note the "little" delamination on the entry side of my TT in the first photo (this was the only visable issue), then take a look at what was hidden under the roof: http://i46.tinypic.com/2n21iso.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/k2fjht.jpg Before it was all said & done......, a new roof, new entry side wall, new rear wall, partial slider wall, and new flooring was required to repair the mositure damage "hidden" within the structure of my TT. Remember, you are looking at purchasing a 10 year old RV without any real history other than what the "salesman" is telling you. Turk2500
