RE: Meet Me in Montana (Summer, 2011)

Got some great info above but still looking to hear from anyone who has driven the following route to Glacier.
That route runs as follows: catch SH-3 at Billings and go north to where SH-3 links with US-12 at Lavina. US-12/SH-3 west to Harlowton and then north on SH-3 to just west of Moore where SH-3 swings west again. From there, on into Great Falls where I pickup I-15 and head north.
Any takers?

RE: One more thing to check

I don't have to worry about it. The dummy that installed my hitch rails (don't ask) got them just a little bit out of alignment, so the pins have to be installed and removed with a hammer.
Instant, no cost, theft deterrent.
Well, that IS another method:(.

RE: One more thing to check

Turn Key,
I did the same thing on my B&W hitch.
No worries from pranksters.

Cheap and a pretty sure fix for the problem:W!

RE: One more thing to check

I was concerned about this when we got our "5th" about 5 years ago. I have to park on the street at night and didn't want to have to remove and store the hitch between uses. Solved the issue by adding keyed locks to the pins. Just drilled out the holes on the hitch pins where the hair pins go. Drilled them large enough to accept the lock shank. Did both pins on the top unit and opposing corners on the bottom unit where it hooks to the rails. Got 4 locks that are keyed alike and that took care of the issue. It wouldn't stop someone who really wanted to steal the hitch (why would someone want to :h) but it will stop pranksters and give you peace of mind.
Just a thought.

Meet Me in Montana (Summer, 2011)

Well, for reasons that I don't even understand, I haven't been around this forum much in a good bit of time. Used to pop in here daily until about a year or so ago and just haven't for a while. Now I need some help so I'm back again.
Starting to plan a long trip for the summer of 2011. Going to be DW and I coming from Ft. Worth and our friends from the Texas Hill Country that went to Colorado with us a couple of years ago. This is going to be about a three week trip covering Glacier NP, Yellowstone, the Tetons and some time at Mount Rushmore before we return to Texas. Starting to lay out the route and know that I can get to Glacier (first real stop) almost totally on interstates. I like that as I can move faster and the run to Glacier is going to be three pretty tough days. Part of the last 360 miles from Billings to Great Falls has got me stumped. If I stay on the I-90 to Butte and then head north on I-15, that's going to add a bunch of miles and time to the trip. There are a few choices as far as connectors go but none save much in the way of time except for one coming out of Billings. How are those roads between Billings and Great Falls? Is there something better?
Thanks for the help and,
Happy Camping!
