RE: Who's going to BurningMan ?

Saw a documentary on Burning Man on the show Reno 911. Gave me the impression it was basically a gay pot smoking bash in the desert. Was I given the wrong impression?

RE: Repair Ice maker Water Line

I just turned off the water line. Not sure of your setup, if fridge on slide you have a shot. Otherwise it usually means taking fridge out. I just use a tray and save space in my freezer.

RE: great american road trip on NBC

Watched it for the first time the other night. Agree with assessments posted. Might watch more if only to see some cool places. The motel as a prize was amusing, why would anyone stay in a motel. ElMonte rentals should be embarrassed, how could this help their business? RVing on this show is about avoiding the RV and close calls on the highway! The one call I saw, driving in left lane seemingly below speed limit, get passed by trucker at speed, hitting horn as a clue they are being passed, (And also to let them know they are idiots), and complaining about AZ highway! Dang, AZ is one of the best places to drive! Can you imagine them driving on NJ Tpke? The goofy competition is nothing more than another way to eliminate people. The cooperation in the family getting 'passengrs' on the plane was sad. My fear of shows like this is that the viewing public will see this as reality. Then again, maybe it will keep them from overcrowding the rest of us that actuallydo RV realistically.

RE: Flashing Lights In Campground

I was wondering when the plastic patio lights would show up. My wife an I have had one form or another of RV our whole married life. from tents to boats to campersto motorhome. We have not yet succombed to the patio lights. Lanterns are for eating after dark, but lights go out after. As to the lit flag being turned off when you retire, are you also lowering the flag? The basis of the flay etiquette is that the flag should be lit when flying at night. Clearance lights on? I have seen it, but had to assume they left their lights on and it amused me to think of the battery running down. How about the blue lights on the sat dishes? Looks neat, and helped me find a friend camped out in the desert, plus it doesn't do much to illuminate the rest of the dark. The whole family and a bonfire and lots of ber I remember from early years at a campground, also lit up with patio lights, the seasonals bought old refrigerators, covered with a tarp, sitting on an old pallet. We didn't go back. Maybe, if we as a group, always walk up and ask if they need help when they leave these lights on, because it is considered a distress signal, maybe, maybe, we as a group could quell this practice?

RE: 2009, 141 nights traveling in TC plus Table of Cont

Just when I think Sleepy is getting mellow he casts a huge net over MH owners on the actions of 2. Granted 2 out of 2 is 100%, but there are many of us with much better appreciation of the world, and mny f us that are prior TC'ers. Does the TC experience make us better? No. Does it make us bad because we went to the 'dark side'? No. Human nature is human nature. I have had both good and bad experiences with car, pickup, motorcycle, TC, class C, A, B, etc. For me, I try to let the bad ones settle and concentrate on all the good people out there. Maybe all those nights in a TC are what is causing the mood? ;)

RE: BEWARE OF SALES SCAM IN PORTLAND OREGON

Snowhawkwomann, You need to go back and read the thread again. The OP is having an issue with a dealer. Fleetwood IS honoring, and I am sure the warranty issue he has will straighten out, once FW can be apprised. Should we all stay out of your state because of Tim McVeigh? Same logic.

RE: RV Dealers

Depends, what color is the sky where you live? In other words, be more specific in your question. Did they wereck oours and have to get it back to original? Are they selling a ued unit and you want to know what ought to be done? We can all gues at possible questions to answer, might be entertaining, but probably won't give you what you are seeking.

RE: 1996 Southwind 36' from $20K to $18K '-should I do it?

As a cuationary note, When using NADA do not check ANY options to arrive at price. Then use low retail. That should be the high price. Looks like this is how you did it. Next step is allowing for the other caveat, while NADA comes out quarterly, it is still on the high side. Trade value f the coach would be about 20% below low retail. A number between those two points would be good. Looks like you are there. I have a 97 Sothwind. In fact I have a dash mat for a 96, the swap meet guy said it was the same. New, grey. You want it, you can have it for shipping costs.

RE: Have YOU ever boondocked with residential fridge?

Can't speak for Gulfstream, but most manuf use more batteries and a dedicated inverter for the res fridge. The gen running a couple hours during the day should work to peak them up. How are you fixed for solar?

RE: CB etiquette

J-R I don't know the Galaxy, have seen it, but no experience with it. You said 10 litre, I assume 10 meter, that is not in the CB range. Use of 10 meter by an unlicensed operator is illegal, and if cracked dow on can be heavily fined., This is FCC stuff. Modifying a radio outside of the type aceptance is also illegal. The Galaxy problbly also has a linear? Am I right? Or an add on? Stil off the books, CB is limited to 5 watts by law. The fact that all your friends do it, is not something that makes it legal. A pot user that has friends that all use pot doesn't make it legal. A ricrocket racer whose friends all do wheelies at 90 mph does not make it legal. If you do a little research you can find this out. Will the FCC crack down on this? Probably not, but still doesn't alter the legality. Swearing on the air is also illegal, but same hold true. Anarchy on CB has been around for many years. At the bottom of all this, the OP asked about the rude guy. They are everywhere, but so are the polite ones. Just taking your chances as to who you will find. I have a CB in my RV, and only turn it on occasionally, for traffic etc. My experiencewas one of delight, I was on 95N in CA crossing desert area, I happened to turn it on because traffic was a bit slow in front of me. When I turned it on, just listening, I heard a trucker mentioning that the RV in front of him had a tire delaminating. Well, CB (when legal ad 5 watts), is a short range radio, I knew it was somewhere near me, so I asked what it looked like. He described my coach. He was very nice, told me it hadn't flatted, and would tell me if it dit, although if it blew I an sure I would have known. Followed me into town and kept the traffic back. This is what CB should be, and probably is most of the time. I am not Anti-CB, just anti-jackass.

RE: Need new driveway advice (gravel, railroad ties, ect)

Timbers on sde is great idea, and get packing gravel. I have heard it called rotten rock, it cracks and binds. Pea gravel will rut fairly easily. Pea gravel will also get in tread and throw out as you driv away, unnerving at first.

RE: CB etiquette

J-Rooster, sure they are rude so you are now illegal. Then again, I am not really sure what a 10-liter radio is, I have a 10 meter radio. I am guessing you just got the metric system messed up a little.

RE: Country Coach unreliable?

San Diego, Tiffin dealer, sounds like a certain dealer I know of. I have been in RV sales and do not bash other brands. I'll give you some info on both. Give pros and cons, let you decide. However, if it is the dealer I think it is, they are notorious. (sorry, am I dealer bashing here?)

RE: Any experience with dealer allowing you to stay .

Lazy Days in FL has an overnight trade out lot. Also a cg next door if you aren't ready to completely leave. Staying in a unit before paying would be highly irregular, but part of the normal business after completing paperwork. There are cases when th customer spends the night before going in the AM to finish paperwork, but not all that common. I worked there for 4 years in sales, this is where my knowledge is based.

RE: NADA-Can't find price

What are you going to use the value for? $32,310 is low retail for both the 1340 and 1350. Both are 35' 2 slides, only difference is floorplan. If you follow NADA you will notice floorplan doesn't really affect the value. The length, slides, mileage does. If you need it for divorce, take 20% lower than low retail. If trying to sell, start at 20% above.

RE: walmart a no,no for engine battery purchase/installation

Did you not read the whole post? The OP stated that the other 2 vehicles he had batteries installed were "Outside". The other vehicles were previous, could have been a hand slap in the interim.

RE: Mosquito Control

Cactus Juice. I went to the web site, but it doesn't seem to do anything as a repellent, just to soothe bites, did I miss something?

RE: Mosquito Control

Thermacell seems to be the most recommended. Not near anystores here, so next big trip out I will look. Also checking eBay. I looked online and it seems as though WalMart only has the clip on, I would prefer the lantern type, so checking around a lot. Thanks to all.

RE: How is the road east out of Yellowstone

Enjoy the park I was at the Fishing Bridge CG today and there were many emppty sites. The Madison CG was full yesterday. I am workamping in the Park, work at the Old Faithful Visitors Center. If you stop in look for me. Always nice meeting online folks. As others have said, drive in, or park, Old Faithful has a pretty big lot, just can't overnight in it. Try to budget as much tie as you can. If you come in and see me I can help you with prioritizing what you want to see and where you need to go. I am the only Bill at the bookstore in the VC.
