RE: Help sensitive to smoke

Kokosfriend, how big a deal was the sinus surgery? I have had 2 sinus surgeries. A piece of cake. I scheduled a week for recovery and needed one day. The only discomfort was the packing which is removed after a couple days or is self dissolving. The surgery, and subsequent allergy treatments have changed my life.

RE: Personal protection in Canada?

Everyone is responsible for their own safety. If you choose not to take any precautions then please, don't yell "help me" in my direction. If I am disarmed, older, and not in great shape, I won't be much help at all.

RE: Towing Differences????

What do you mean by "easier"? A fifthwheel doesn't move the tow vehicle around (sway) and is much less affected by wind. They turn inside the track of the tow vehicle and respond slower when backing up. They generally weigh more and are higher.

RE: Trip Fueling Help

Flying J has pay at the pump for Visa, Master Card and Discover...you don't need to wait at the Mini-mart register.

RE: Trip Fueling Help

I don't know what you tow with or its fuel capacity, as for us, we fill up at the end of the day or before hitching up to leave from where we spent the night. With the Duramax and the extra-capacity fuel tank (45 gal.) I added we can go 350-400 miles on a fill up while towing. We try to fill every day without the trailer being attached no matter how far we have to go.

RE: Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite Dish - is it worth it??

I thought about it but decided against it since there is no good way to secure it against theft.

RE: Departing early for the day @ RV parks

Why don't you "idle" out of the RV park , then wait for the warmup ( if it is necessary) outside on the roadway?

RE: TT tire inflation difference.

You should run all 4 at 50#, otherwise they will not be equally loaded.

RE: Towing 5th wheel Big Horn

can anyone tell me what is different between the Chevy 2500 and the Chevy 3500 besides the number of wheels?

RE: Truck bed cover while pulling a 5th wheel?

Roll-N-Lock. Black vinyl over aluminum. Can open to a number of different positions and can be locked with a key in that position. I roll it back to just ahead of the fifth-wheel and lock it , this makes it inconvenient for thieves to take stuff out of the front of the bed.

RE: Will insurance pay for a tow vehicle rental?

Whatever you get it will have to have a brake controller and a class 3 receiver for your hitch with plugs for the lights. I doubt you will find a rental set up like this. You may get a pickup, but not one set up for towing. There is only so much anyone can do t5o make you "whole" from an accident, inconvenience is not recompensable.

RE: Will insurance pay for a tow vehicle rental?

As a former insurance adjuster I'd say no. Where would you rent one? If you just rent a pickup to replace the one in the shop, and it's OK to tow with, then maybe part of the cost would be re-inbursed.

RE: Modern replacement for 454 and turbo 400

You might get lucky and find an 8.1 L and an Allison, that would be your best bet. There were a lot of pickups sold in 2002-2005 with that combination.

RE: Wheel Bearings

I have a 5 year old truck with 60,000 miles on it, never had the wheels off. Why do trailers need annual wheel bearing service when every other vehicle I have owned only gets bearing service when the brakes are replaced?

RE: Does a person need to buy the "marine grade" TV?

!. "Marine grade TV" not required. I never heard of them. 2. CATV jack runs through booster, even when turned off the booster affect the satellite signal. I ran a line from the outside box, where marked satellite directly to the satellite converter, then to the TV with red/white/yellow RCA cables. I switch the "source" on the TV to view satellite.

RE: Switching to MAC

MAC has an application called "Boot Camp" which allows the installation of Windows as a second start up option. Anything that won't run on MAC OS X, can be accessed through Windows.

RE: Honda 2000IA Companion Generator

If the device would run at home plugged into a normal outlet, it will run on the generator. My 1200 watt microwave works fine with my Honda 2000i.

RE: what size generator do I need

I use a pair of Honda 2000's and have a rig similar to yours. The cost for 2 isn't much more than for a single 3000, and the two are light weight so one person can load them into the pickup.

RE: Hard folding cover for the bed of a pickup

Look at Roll & Lock covers. They are metal lined for security and can be rolled out of the way to tow.
