RE: Outfitter Trip Report: Whazoo In Wonderland pictures

Dave,
You have too much production talent to go running around the desert scaring jeep-ers. But I sure hope you keep it up.
With only 36,000 miles on the truck I now have my 3rd full set of tires
Boy painting must pay better than investing (recently). Actually, 18K per set for the first 2 sets is probably not too bad, considering the abuse you dish out.
Great Whazoo 'whizzing' through the Looking Glass
Now there is something that I DEFINITELY do not want to see! Through the Looking Glass, or anywhere else -- if you take my meaning.

RE: 2 pictures Bay Area camping

Very appropriate for St. Patrick's Day.
It does look like Big Basin, but I think it's Uvas Canyon Park.

Wow -- that is one tall 'ladder' in that trestle.
Great pictures.
I agree about Poway -- except during wildfires.

I think you answered your own question. Because they go to the best places.

RE: It's official - just reserved at Teklanika CG in Denali NP

Yep -- Tek is a great place. Hope you enjoy it. I'm sure you already know about it, but be sure to buy the 'Tek Pass' to ride the shuttle buses further into the park.
Also, you know about the construction, right? Teklanika

I don't know when (or if) this background check started -- but there was no such thing in 2005. Just show up, and pay.

Fantastic color combinations in your pictures, Eric. I'll never get tired of the area.
Now back to work -- you, not me.

RE: Tie down systems and running boards

I also have running boards from the front tire to the rears on my F-350 CC. As long as this is known there is no problem using the Torklift tiedown system on both the front and rear. There is apparently a modification to allow this.
pbgsho
The option is adjustable front (Torklift) tiedowns, like I use.

Yeah -- outstanding pictures. What time of year did you find such clear sky?
Also, how did you go about driving Newfoundland (on your travels map)? Are there many roads there? (no insult intended, Newfoundlander's)

The Campbell was a great drive in 2005 -- and hoping to drive it again this summer. I hope it's not still mud.

RE: Silverado Camper tiedown Setup

This is the best picture of my front adjustable torklifts. Probably not much help. You can call Torklift, they are very helpful.

I could measure how far mine are below the bottom of the body, if you think it would help.
Seems to me that the rear ones will still attach in the same place -- bolts into the frame that also hold the hitch.

Leo Kottke --- one of the planet’s finest acoustic guitarists. Besides his guitar skills he has a mind and a wit than can best be described as supremely non-linear and entertaining.
All good things.

It's shown on the topo link in my post. About 38 degrees 35 minutes N by 110 degrees 48 minutes W.

RE: 3 amigos have a swell trip -- part b

Wow! ...that shot in the ditch looks nasty.
It looked even nastier before the snow fall that night hid most of the rocks. Could have been a lot worse, but the only physical damage was a very small dent in the left rear truck bed, and a slight bend at the left rear of the camper.
By the way, what did the tow cost out there in the boonies and how far did he have to come?
I'll just say that to get a 4x4 tow truck, it had to come from 100 miles away -- and that was most of the cost. Green River is less than 30 miles away, but no 4x4.
Thanks for all the kind comments.
