suburban water heater

Ok....posted a few months ago.Suburban SW6DE.Works on electric but will not fire on gas. Full propane tanks. Turn propane on....turn on the stove....light all burns for gas flow....turn on water heater switch and the ignitor clicks on thru all 3 cycles but will not light. I have just replaced the gas solenoid valve thinking that would take care of the problem but NOT.Checked the brown wires and I do have 12 volts at them. Cannot even smell any gas when it tries to ignite....almost like the solenoids are not opening to allow gas to come thru to ignite.....any possible solutions???

RE: Found solution for intransigent Vinyl Molding MOLD!

I found it easy to just replace the vinyl strips every three or four years. Where did you get it from? I've looked and can't find it..... Ken On my older 5ver...I went to a local RV parts store...they had all sizes and colors.

RE: I-5 to Hwy 101 Mt shasta area

How is 96 along the Klamath River? Looks like is stays at river side until it meets 299. There are some shortcuts off this, one to 199 and another to Redwood NP (Bald Hills) - for summer driving in a car. Hwy 96 along the Klamath River is a good route.....if not in a hurry. You will hit Hwy. 299 at Willow Creek.

RE: Help finding rv friendly fuel stations on 101 in California

We are currently in Santa Rosa, CA and will be traveling to Eureka, CA tomorrow on US 101. During our travels on 101 we have not seen any truck stops or rv friendly places to get diesel. There are plenty of trucks/rvs on the road, so I know they have to fill up somewhere! We have The Next Exit book for interstates and that is wonderful. Unfortunately, it's not helpful for 101 because it's not an interstate so there are no listings. Is there a website I can go to to find this information? Does anyone know where we can fuel up on this route? What resources do you use to find truck stops along your routes? Lot of places in Eureka,Crescent City,Brookings,Gold Beach,Coos Bay and everything further north.

RE: How to check RV height???

I can't assume everything I have is stock, my TH has been modified so there's no telling that the a/c is stock because some A/Cs are different shapes and bigger/smaller not only that but I have high clearance compared to many 5vers I've seen (and no my axles are NOT flipped, I know this because Henderson's Lineup says so) So how can I find out what my overall height is from the ground all the way up to the highest point? Well I guess there is no legal limit as to how tall i can be, but I have to know my height as I probably legally can't go under certain bridges. (not that I'll necessarily see the height clearance sign in time so it won't matter). If you check the Oregon or other state laws for 5th wheels...there is a height maximum.

RE: Prospect Oregon and Prospect RV Park

Prospect is about 60 miles from Medford and about 20-25 miles from Shady Cove for major shopping. There is a store in Prospect.

RE: Good Sam financing

Can anyone share any experience they've had with getting financing through Good Sam? We're thinking about buying from a private seller & our credit union won't finance used RVs. Thanks. I inquired about Good Sam financing and never got an answer from them. Went to my credit union and they were more than happy to finance the 2 year old 5'er I wanted to buy...5.9% rate.

RE: Suburban SW6DE

Have you checked to see if gas is exiting the gas valve? If not, before I would condem the valve, I would check that the burner orifice is clear and the flash-tube is clean.Orofice is clear and burner tube is clean. Don't think its getting any gas....the ignitor just keeps clicking with no igntion and you cannot smell any ga.

RE: Suburban SW6DE

I'm assuming you are coming out of winterization mode? If so, light the stove top gas to help purge the lines of any air. If the stove lights and stays lit for a bit, you should be able to get gas to the WH. As I'm having my own issues with my WH at the moment, thats about all I can suggest at this time. Somebody here will surely help you, they helped me. Good luck. My gas is on....first thing I do is turn to stove on to light a burner. I have 12 volts at the solenoids......ground is good. Looks like I need a new gas valve.

Suburban SW6DE

Have a Suburban 6 gallon water heater...DSI. Works on electric but will not fire up on propane. Turn the switch on inside and the igniter clicks....does this thru 3 cycles but it still won't fire. And yes...I have full propane tanks. My 5th wheel is 3 years old.

RE: Checking your 5th wheel weight

Weigh the truck alone and then hitched up, the difference in the drive axle weight is your pin weight. I can see no value knowing the weight of the 5er unhitched, maybe just to say you are pulling a xxx lb trailer. Do not unhitch on the scale unless you know positively no commercial hauler will be waiting while you fiddle around with hiching and unhitching. Drop the trailer, weigh the truck, hook-up and get a re-weigh for $1. PS: Stay out of weigh stations! Once you enter you can be inspected and ticketed, besides causing a delay on the scales. I was gonna say, Henderson's Lineup recommended that I take my 5ver up to wilderville where there is a commercial weigh station and I wasn't quite sure about the recommendations since Henderson's doesn't do certified weight tickets they do it so they can see what you're weighing at when looking for problems. Assuming you enter a weigh station, and pass inspection can you still be cited for interfering with the weigh station because you are not in a proper vehicle to be weighed? A bit off topic, dumb question but how does a weigh station know that you didn't weigh in when you are supposed to? I have seen semi trucks whizz right past weigh stations while others check in. Go to the one at Wilderville on the weekend...I have done my weighing there when they are closed but the scale still works. Unless you need a certified weight.....you can unhook and weigh at your leisure.

RE: center point of California

Have you noticed that the southern 1/4 of Ca. is considered southern ca. and the northern 3/4 is considered Northern Ca.? And then there is Central Ca. but then where is that? I think Northern Ca. should stop no further south than Sacramento.

SNOW

With another storm moving into Northern California.....please....if you are towing...either stop somewhere before you get stuck or use chains!! So many trailers/5th wheels and motorhomes with toads were parked along I-5 or city streets because they had no chains or did not want to go on.

RE: Short bed compliant 5th wheels - Brookstone

I think most people here agree that a slider hitch is a good things to have. However, my point with starting this thread is that it seems like at least one manufacturer has made changes to their design to allow buyers not to need one at all. I have a call in to one of the factory engineers laters today to confirm that I wont need anything for my shortbed truck, just like the sales person and the factory rep told me at the show. One last questions -- the trailer hitch place I am going to use seems like they have a really good reputation. They suggested placing the hitch about 2 inches in front of the rear axle. Does that sound about right? I just read a post above where Irelands Child says his is 2" BEHIND the axle. My non-slider hitch is 2" in front of the axle on my short bed Chevy. I cannot turn the truck sharp enough to even come close to hitting my Cougar.
