RE: Traveling with a handgun thru Virginia

As a retired police officer, I do not support the idea of breaking laws. But, many of us law abiding citizens travel with guns for protection. This is very SIMPLE, don't give a police officer any reason to search for a gun. If you get a traffic citation, take the citation and deal with that accordingly. Again, very simple. Not so simple when the cop runs your plate number.
If you have a ccw and don't tell the officer your carrying , you can loose your license , at least in michigan !

RE: Traveling with a handgun thru Virginia

What happens if you wreck and the firearm is on the dash , you might have to eat it.
With the touch of a button you can have it ready to go with the gunvault safe, and cable locked to the seat if you need to leave it in the vech.

RE: Concealed wespons permit

Before the Anti"s shut the thread down , I will add this .
Gun Owners of America is reporting that federal Senate bill S. 845, which would establish concealed carry reciprocity between the states, could get a vote as early as MONDAY!
The vote could be on the wording being attached as an amendment to a Department of Defense authorization bill, H.R. 2647.
It is based on the "full faith and credit" in the Constitution and would allow you to carry in any state that allows citizens to carry concealed as long as your home state would let you carry concealed!

RE: Snow on Roof

Last year deep wet snow melted into the fridge roof vent , ran down into the propane tank area and leaked inside the compartment right below the fridge.
I re caulked inside the propane box , caught the leak right after it happened , I don't let deep snow sit on it anymore.

OK, any more truck camper related posts before this thread gets put to bed?

Just 1 more thing - Do other RV's have the large escape hatch like a TC has , when trouble finds you at 3am and that cheap RV door is about to get ripped off it's hinges ?

RE: Poll: How many of you keep personal protection in your TC?

Normally I don't involve myself in these arguments but I figure what the heck, I should say my piece as well. In my opinion, the removal of the weapons restrictions in National Parks does nothing positive for the experience of visiting a National Park. One has to wonder, if there is an agenda or a path forward that we are on then what is the next step? Should it be okay to pack weapons in the movie theater, at the mall, on an airline flight? How about in the courtroom? Whoa - that could be the ultimate statement to clarify that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed!!
Not to be sarcastic but the fact remains that carrying the weapon does make certain people feel safer, it's an "equalizer" in some respects - there are plenty of tales out there to support that notion. However, when people start posting pictures of their guns and excitedly ask you to take a look at their new "toy" I'm a little bit aghast at the attitudes and I wonder how prepared they are to really use it. Are the kids gonna find it when mom and pop are away or maybe some hungry vagrant busts into your camper looking for some grub and finds a loaded 357 instead and then your wife surprises him by opening the door.
Yes, you could "possibly" be accosted by some miscreants in a National Park and without a gun you'd be missing a "possibly" important defense. I say "possibly" because there is also the chance that by brandishing the weapon it might even be taken from you. I know everyone is going to insist that that is definitely not going to happen but by saying that you are gazing into a crystal ball and telling us the future (which you don't know)
Now, aside from being accosted by some miscreants in a National Park
(which is an admittedly small chance) you could instead come down with some form of terminal cancer and spend months or years in deteriorating and debilitating health, perhaps writhing in unimaginable pain and suffering. Worse even yet, it could happen to your spouse or child.
So being religious or not either God or Fate will determine how you go and how much suffering you bear on the way out. I know you want to feel in control and a gun might make you feel as though you are - and rightly so in these days but we really have to start working towards a point where we don't have to feel that way. Having a gun ban in National Parks is just a first step in that direction because, after all, if you can't take a chance camping at a National Park without packing a weapon how about walking down to your mailbox?
What direction are we going to go in?If a lot more people carried guns, what kind of a society would we have? Certainly not the kind predicted by anti-gun fanatics. Those hysterical doomsayers have been proven absolutely wrong one hundred percent of the time. Would we have a crime-free society? Certainly not. Criminals are as natural and immune to total eradication as fruit flies. But a better-armed society would severely limit the violent damage criminals wreak before they are stopped. Criminals are naturally self-destructive. The reasons they are so doesn't matter. To assist them in their self-destructiveness is the polite and civilized thing to do. Thus another ageless axiom: An Armed Society Is A Polite Society.

wspepa:
If you ever had to shoot anyone, I suppose your sign could be used against you in legal proceedings even if the crook is guilty. His lawyer could say to a jury that your sign shows a "disturbing willingness" and propensity to use firearms, you deprived a family of their father--and all the other garbage he would put forth to distort things to your disadvantage.
All other things being equal, I think you would be in a much better legal position without the sign.
Hey it's not my sign it was posted by "hotvet67".Hey - that's not my sign " Chuck Norris has it on his front porch " So go right in and try to steal Chucks gun's

I think advertisements like this may work against you especially if:
(1)the bad guy thinks you're bluffing (like a house displaying "Protected by ADT" signs on the lawn even though it doesn't contain an alarm system).
(2) if you have what the bad guys want i.e.; computers, valuable coins, cameras, etc., they are more likely to confront you with a gun, knowing you are armed; or worse, shoot you to get what they want. I've seen a coin dealer who liked to flash his concealed weapon until I pointed out that those likely to rob him may be more likely to kill him first simply because they knew he was armed.Tell that to Chuck Norris - NRA interview " Any burglar who test what I mean by that sign will find out really quick "

RE: F350 w/6.0 PSD expectations??

I'll take a guess at it too.
turbo vanes rusted and frozen due to lack of driving.
clogged air filter , egr valve stuck , or primary fuel filter clogged , running dirty oil for a long time .
bad (FICM) fuel injector control module .

RE: F350 w/6.0 PSD expectations??

Thanks, I agree something is wrong, thanks for some ideas as I don't like walking into the dealership blind. First call in the morning is to my local dealer.
Does not matter if your blind or not , most dealers treat owners like dummys anyway , and if you do know what your talking about , they won't want to here it , there the experts.
min. 2 hours diagosis fee 190.00 , IF they cover it on warrenty 100.00 deductable.
Ford will use any mod . or after market part , including filters as an excuse to not cover warranty work .
Expect to pay 8 or 900.00 for minor work = a few hour job
try craigs list for a powerstroke teck working out of the garage , 50..00 Hr. + no mark up on parts.
Good luck and let us know what happens . :)

RE: Powerstroke 6.0 Diesel Owners?

On the ford 6.0 motorcraft oil filters FL - 2016
Racor makes the filters for motorcraft , fram and others , same filter different box and cheaper.
Fram # CH9549 - check the patent # on filter they are the same.
lots of auto parts don't carry the motorcraft , but they will have the Fram , at Walmart the fram is around 17.00 , the FL2016 is 18.00 + same filter.

Body pull is the only way to go for serious work , just changed fuel filters on my 6.0 and it will hardly run , looks like 1 or 2 bad fuel injectors .

RE: Rest Area----CLOSED

How about this , your a half mile from rest stop after 12 hours of driving , and all lanes and the rest stop shut down for a police action.
Traffic shut down for 1 1/2 hour , rest stop closed all night.
Highway rest area standoff ends peacefully

......are you still driving around with the Lance labels showing?
Still have mine on .
most will just give up getting the problem fixed , I did not , and it did not happen by being nice.
Sounds like BOB is a man that will speak up , The truth is none of them are worth the new unit price and they all have problems.
