RE: What Recession???

I guess that question could be asked to 20% of the workers that are unemployed, under employed or just stopped looking. Maybe they can tell you about the word "recession".

RE: RV campgrounds near Endicott/Binghamton NY

April is early, especially before the 15th, for many places "up north" to have opened yet for the season. I'd start by calling some of the listings in the directories before you head out too soon.

Survey - RV Parks with largest sites? New York/New England

Just doing an informal survey on RV parks with large sites whether it be private, State or Federal facility. Short of boondocking in the middle of a State Forest, what facilities have that spacious, larger than normal site? Looking for New England/New York input. Thanks

RE: Salisbury State Park Massachusetts site size question

If you click on the site map, rows A, B, C and I think row D have 30 amp service, that is those sites south of the walkway that divides the park. You'll see a road/walkway running east-west on the campground map. (These site numbers run around ~ #30-#50, in that range. i.e A30, B48, C34, D50, etc). Some A & B rows are listed as 50 amp but 30 amp is also available on the post. There are other rows w/ 30 amp but you have to check the site map to verify. There are more tenters towards the back of the park but site sizes are all about the same. The lower the letter, the closer to the main beach area. Hope this helps. If you like a convenient beach, you'll enjoy it here.

RE: Calais Maine border crossing

It seems like the Canadian custom agents greet me with a smile and are glad to see me.....wave me through with minimal delay. It's coming back into the States that I seem to get the "third degree" with sour faced agents getting their kicks making people wait and squirm. Is it just my imagination?

RE: Congrats to S Carolina and 95 thru Richmond

I recently did 95 South (Richmond) and 295 coming back north and would agree with previous posters. The******road through Richmond isn't worth the few miles and minutes saved...maybe. Will be going 295 now unless I hear better reports.

RE: Going from west FL to Keys...SR 41 or I 75??

I'd do 41...just did both routes myself and 41 is worth the ride....not much longer either unless you make some stops.

NRA Sticker on Motorhome

Do think there's any merit in placing an NRA membership sticker/logo near MH entry door? Does it send any message to would-be intruders? Plus side? Down side? Interested in comments without a "gun battle" here. Thanks.

RE: Verizon - Had to Fire them in 7 days, Data Plan Access Scam

If it IS a "scam", perhaps you should file a complaint with the FCC. If not, a closer monitoring of your use seems to be in order. JMO

RE: Mass State Parks in May

I've been to Salisbury in May...about 2 years ago, it was pretty empty. I believe that they open in mid April if you got the real early "bug".SALISBURY BEACH STATE RESERVATION

I believe it is 9 AM on weekdays and 10 AM Weekends/Holidays. You better try 6 months (to the day) to have success.

Awesome!! Worth a try for me. Yesterday, I had some bacon dipped in chocolate with almond slices sprinkled on it. I was surprised by the interesting flavor.

RE: Reserve America - Nickerson State Park

We like Sweetwater also. There's a path to the Rail Trail (1/4 mile) from Sweetwater, if you're into biking. Have only been to Sweetwater in non-peak times but have heard it gets pretty busy there in the summer.

RE: Vegas Hotels

I think there's a large parking lot near the Riviera (which is also close to the Convention Center lots). That is also near Circus, Circus....north end of the strip...not quite the activity and crowds as farther down the strip.

RE: Reserve America - Nickerson State Park

At Salisbury State Park it's 9AM on weekdays and 10AM on Sat/Sun. I'm guessing it may be the same for Nickerson but to be certain start the reservation process for something at 6 months out, today, and there's a message that comes up if you try to book before the release time..It will tell you the exact release hour on that day. So, try like 7 am on a sample day. If you try 6 months and 1 day out it will just tell you that no reservations are available.

RE: Driving Cross-Country with New RV - Winterized?

For just 2 days travel and in mid winter, I'd agree with skip on this one. If you have to use it, use some RV antifreeze to flush. You'll figure out the limits of the rig in time so don't give yourself unnecessary worries about something freezing up, having to re-winterize, etc. Good luck and safe travels.

RE: Fridge blows Gnd Fault Interrupt

I had a similar experience this past summer where I was blowing fuses. It turned out to be a frayed wire that was creating a short on the back side of the fridge. Took an RV shop about an hour to find the short and about 30 seconds to fix it. It could be something as simple as that.
