RE: Gulf Shores AL to Branson MO route

The mapping programs probably gave you routes 55, 63, 412, 65. Those are all good roads some two lane and some 4 lane. You shouldn't have any trouble roadwise. The weather in Branson in March and April can vary greatly....that is usually the rainy season here in southern Missouri but also a beautiful time as spring is starting to bust out all over. Expect day time temps 40 - 60 and evenings usually in the 30's. But as a disclaimer you can expect just about anything.....I have gone from AC to heat in one day many times...jwb.

RE: Towing 5th wheel Big Horn

Your 5'ver won't weigh near as much as said in the brochure. Best bet is to take it to a certified scale and weigh it. I have a 2500hd duramax and have been pulling my 3055rl Big Horn for three years now. No doubt the duramax will pull it but lots of people are concerned with stopping....I have tried several panic stops with mine and have had no problem. Look around at what's pulling what....you see lots of 2500's pulling large fivers. I believe that the 3500 has 600lbs more hauling capacity that the 2500. Now I will get ready to get reprimanded for this post....jwb.

RE: Ozark National Scenic Riverways

Ozark National Scenic Riverways is headquarted in Van Buren, Missouri. The park takes in about 75 miles of the Current and Jacks Fork rivers in south central Missouri. There are several nice campgrounds in and around Van Buren which should be your starting point for investigating the Riverways.

RE: Creekside,Creekstone,orFoothills in Pigeon Forge

We stayed at Creekside this past summer for 10 days and enjoyed the park. The owners/managers may be a little over the top with their rules, but I suppose they have to have them because of past abuse. Park is close to tram stop, (just outside entrance), supermarket across highway about 1/8th mile, park accommodated all types of RV's. Didn't use the pool but it looked nice and is fair sized. Would stay their again if in the area. JWB.

RE: Thanksgiving in Branson

Hey Firefighter, I live in southern Missouri on the other side of the state from Branson, and I can't remember having more than just a skiff of snow in November. Most of our snow comes in mid December or in January or February. Branson is a great place to visit this time of year, highs normally in the mid 50's daytime and 30's at night, not to say there aren't exceptions to the rule...A good place to eat if you like seafood is The Rail's located off of 165 on Safari Road, check them out...have a good time and enjoy. jwb.

RE: Beginning to Look at 5th Wheels

Hey Yellowrose, Geeksrus, the poster that slammed the Heartland Bighorn must have really got a hold of a lemon. I have owned a Bighorn 3055rl since January 2008 and had a few minor problems with it but once the bugs were worked out I found out that it is a great unit. Don't let one poster's comments sway your search for a quality fifth wheel. Go take a look at Bighorn's and also Big Country's. I found both of them to be superior to Jayco's, Challengers and Everest's. JWB

RE: Hwy 63 out of Springield MO to Memphis?

I'm not aware of Highway 63 in Springfield, it runs north and south about 100 miles east. If I were in Springfield and was going to go to Memphis I would take US 60 east across the bottom part of Missouri to Sikeston where I would take I-55 southbound to Memphis. JMHO jwb.

RE: World Famous garden in Missouri

The only one I can think of would be Shaw's botanical garden which is located in St. Louis. It is world renowned but its a long way from Branson.

RE: Gatlinburg Campground??

Another vote for Twin Creeks, stayed there 10 days this summer, nice campground. Like the other poster said, shuttle takes you to main shuttle area (Aquarium), there you can take several shuttles to many different areas around Gatlinburg.

RE: Firestone Airbag Pressure Question

I have Air-lift air bags, similar to firestones, I carry 5 psi empty and 25 psi with the 5'ver on the truck, this works for me. I suppose every situation would be a little different, depending on trailer weight, pin weight, etc....

RE: Highway 465 Branson MO?

US 465 is a great 4 lane divided highway that takes you from US 65 to Mo 76 west of Branson. It is also called the "high road". If you are traveling south on 65 from Springfield and camping somewhere west of Branson, near Table Rock, Silver Dollar City, etc this is the road for you to take. I just left Branson Tuesday and we use 465 all the time to avoid 76 and 248(Shepard of the Hills). Try it, you'll like it!!!

RE: Current River Missouri camping

You might check out Rocky River Resort campground at Doniphan, I believe they have some full hookup sites and they are also an inner tube and canoe rental agency. I've never camped there since I live at Doniphan, but they seem to be fairly busy most of the time. Their phone number is 573-996-7171. jwb.

RE: Arkansas Hwy 7

Arkansas highway 7 is one of the prettiest drives in the country....should be doable with your unit, just take your time as the road is very curvy and hilly.

RE: East Coast/West Coast channels & Local channels ???

I have had directv since primestar went out of business and directv took it over. I live in the Ozark region of Missouri and we qualified for distant network service. A few years back we were able to qualify for local channels, Direct came out and installed a new dish, but when I found out from the tech that I would lose my DNS channels I cancelled the locals....very happy with dns package that I have. jwb.
