RE: Oh wow nice way to lowball someone :P (RANT!)

I would buy a new one at the store for $1000.00 with a 3 year warranty before I would spend $800.00 on a year old new/used one with a two year warranty.

Unless you know what you are doing I would not remove the coil spring. If that thing slips out and hits you in the face you will be looking like This. :B

RE: Polishing Aluminum Wheels

After you get them as clean as possible treat them with Zoop Seal and you wont have to worry about them for a few years.

RE: Why 2 Couches?

Why do so many motorhomes have 2 couches or jack knifes, or J lounges.......a couch and a rocker/recliner or two seem like a better way to go. I know that's what I have, and I like, but seems somewhat rare in DP's.
Brian
Some people need to sleep more than two or three. As kids get older its not cool to sleep with their brother or sister and want thier own beds.

RE: Has anyone had ball joints changed??

Im doing ball joints on my diesel pickup right now. Dealer wanted $1200.00-$1500.00. I have under 400.00 in parts. My passanger side took me 3.5 hours I just started the drivers side and its looking like I will shave a hour off that time. My old ball joints wer non greaseable I purchased Moog ball joints to replace them with and they have grease fittings.

RE: 1991 31' P30-Steer Safe or Safe T Plus?

Daveinet
Could you give details on your track bar build?
Thanks in advance
Raloma
Raloma I know you were asking Dave about his trac bar but Here is a DIY trac bar someone built with contacts for parts. This trac bar was for a workhorse chassis. If you look Here at the henderson website you will see the workhorse and the chevy P chassis and how they bolt up. I was going to make one for my P30 but did not have the time so I purchased the Henderson one. I think it would be very easy to make one if you wanted. The biggest thing I noticed with the trac bar is when getting passed by big rigs and stops that tail wagging the dog thing.

RE: 1991 31' P30-Steer Safe or Safe T Plus?

Thinking of installing one of these-for those of you with P30's which do you have and how do you like it?
My rig is a 1991 31' Allegro P30 with 19.5 wheels.
.
I have a Steer Safe that was on mine when I purchased it. If I had to buy one myself I would get the Safe T Plus. To me springs belong on garage doors and not under my rv.

RE: 1991 31' P30-Steer Safe or Safe T Plus?

Do you have a track bar on the rear end?? I would look into it. I test drove a '95 on a P30 and it was very vague and delayed steering response. Track bar should improve steering response and sensitivity.
Lay under the back of your coach. Line up a point on the axle with a point on the frame. While laying under the very rear of the coach, eye ball the point on the frame compared to the point on the axle. Laying on your back, put both feet against the frame and rock it side to side. You should be able to asses side to side movement compared to the axle. I suspect there will be a lot of movement.
I unintentionally did this with my coach - just happened to be laying underneath while welding. Had my feet against the frame - went to move my position and just happened to notice how much side to side motion there was. I immediately began my pursuit of building a custom track bar. Since my coach already handled fairly well, the biggest difference I noticed as while towing. But if you already have problems, its likely it will significantly improve steering response.
Would a track bar take care of the sudden movement resulting from a blow-out up front? :@
No

RE: Should I avoid Monaco?

I think you have the order of overall quality about right - here are my changes
Foretravel
Country Coach
Bluebird
Beaver
Monaco
American - Does not have their own chassis.
I also like Alpines a lot for the fact that they are the best / most fun to drive big rigs I have ever had the pleasure of driving.
I would absolutely not eliminate Monaco. They did and still build a great motor home.
I would add Newell into the top three.

RE: Gas MH owners who changed shocks

I installed Koni FSD shocks on mine last year replacing Bilsteins that I dont know how old they were. If I didnt change them myself I would have thought the old ones were still on. I think the DP guys see much better results.

RE: CHILD PROOF SWITCH ON BREAK PEDAL

if your worried about your kids hitting the brakes and shifting the trans just put a ratchet strap from your brake pedal to your steering wheel it would be really hard for them to release it.. works for me and it wont modify your rv or give u something else to troubleshoot in a emergency or a brake down
This would be much better.
