RE: tekonsha p3

We've found the vast majority of this type of problem starts in the 7 pin connector. Folks forget that it hangs down there 24/7 in all types of weather. We alsways start with a cleaning with contact cleaner and a greasing wih dielectric grease. Both available at Radio Shacks and most automotive stores.

RE: Tankless hot water?

Be sure you get one that is RV rated. Many are made for home installation and can't take the punishment of an OTR RV. Case in point we've had two folks buy home units and both failed under warranty. As soon as the companies found out they were in RV's the warranty was voided. Other have installed RV rated units and have been very happy with their performance.

RE: Suggestions for ice cube maker

Just remember they make ice but do not store ice. The catch pans are not insulated.

RE: Brake controller...pup

In a word, YES. The Suburban's brakes are only designed to brake the GVWR of it, not the GCWR of trailer and Suburban.
And yes your trailer will have brakes as all Coleman/Fleetwood campers come with brakes as standard equipment.

RE: Wonder Wash manual washing machine (laundry)

Just about useless. Doesn't hold enough. You still need to rinse. About the same as beating the clothes on a rock next to a stream.
They have been selling these and folks throwing them away for at least the last 40 years.

RE: AC what if theoretical question.

They still do, problem for RV's is the BTU value would need the size apx of a refridgerator. Not many routes you could take with that kind of height on the roof. Not to mention the size propane tank you'd need to haul around.

RE: Making Egg Rolls

Back when I wasn't just cooking for myself I used to make a variety of eggrolls. Try a sausage & cheese for Italian, with marinara dipping sauce; Barrito filling for mini barritos. The combinations are endless.

RE: Honda Odyssey v. Toyota Sienna

Jim, you can always tell when one of the "big guys" posts here in folding trailers.
As to the Honda I'm wondering if D4 is also an overdrive and as such Honda would want to drop to direct 1:1 for towing.

RE: Stainless steel

Center Pin has it correct. 300 series stainless in basically non magnetic, and the 400 series are magnetic. It's not "cheaper grades".
300 series can also not be heat treated to harden it. So any stainless knife is of the 400 series grades. Where I worked we dealt in mainly 300 series for pressure vessels. The first thing most all the welders and fabricators did was attemp to make themselves a stainless knife. Problem was they would not hold an edge.
I take it the scratch(s) run across the grain of the sheet. Be prepared to do the entire sheet to keep the grain looking the same.

RE: Does Anyone Out There Weight Their Coaches?

RV Industry News several years ago estimated 5% or less of RV's, including all towables and motorized, had ever been across a scale.
Our experience over the years confirms this.
Since the inception of slides in has been even more important to get corner on motorized, and side to side weights, as well as axle weights for all RV's.
We gotten to the point that a certified weight certificate has become a "deal breaker" on even used RV's.
We had a poor couple pay over 6 figures for a coach only to find out after blowing several tires that the driver's side front tire was 3,000 pounds over weight even thought axles total was well under the GAWR. It was that manufacturers first year of a full body slide and obviously the brain dead designers never realized slides add weight to the side they are on.
So if you've had your RV weighed welcome to the 5%er club.

RE: Update-Pulse Recondition Works (was Parallel Hides...)

We've cut open many a battery over the years and the lead sulfide doesn't dissolve. It just drops to the bottom of the battery in the form of a sludge.
That's one reason why different batteries can have differing amounts of cycles; depending on the height of the bottom of the plates off the bottom of the battery. The higher the plates the more cycles until the sulfates build up and short out between plates.
A prime example is Trojan's T105's and their T125's. The T105's have more life cycles and longer warranty mainly because of their higher plates.

RE: Update-Pulse Recondition Works (was Parallel Hides...)

One thing to remember is the pulse reconditioning worked by "blasting" the lead sulfide deposits off the plates exposing fresh lead. The lead sulfate simply falls to the bottom of the battery and eventually will build up enough to short out between plates. From that there is no recovery.

RE: lift kit or ??? for 2007 starcraft centennial 3612

Just don't forget the lift raises EVERYTHING. You lose 4 inches of stabilizer travel, the step is 4 inches higher, and you will need to purchase a new drawbar to match the new height.

RE: Which is the best hitch ball lube?

Answers to two posts. 1) the key is actually hardened and the lube keeps it from tearing up the ball.
2)Ball galling is when there is metal to metal contact and the coupler actually tears small bits of metal from the ball. Since the metal gets deposited on the inside of the coupler it acts like a cutting compound and can accelerate the galling on the ball.

RE: Delay Between front and rear TV

Went round and round with this with Time Warner. The signal is slightly delayed going through the digital box compared to directly hooking the cable to the TV. As soon as I upgraded the second TV with a digital box the delay disappeared.

RE: Thinking about changing out the Exhause headers

No need for ceramic coating on the Banks headers as they are all stainless steel. We figure if you are keeping the RV for 3 years or less then go with an off brand. If keeping it long term go with the Banks system.

RE: repairing a roof

A new roof will only be available through the factory or a dealer. The market for new roofs is so varied by size, model, manufacturer that there's no real profit for a third party to make them.
