RE: Snowbirds Golf

Check out Cocopah RV and Golf Resort in Yuma AZ. The 5th fairway is about 30 feet from our fiver. We have spent several winters here and play golf at least 3 times a week. I used to call Cocopah the best kept secret in Arizona, but the word is out. Paul

RE: Yuma Arizona

Reclaimed water to water golf courses is a very common practice in AZ; in fact, many cities require it. It is not raw gray or black water! It is treated water just as any other treated water. Or, at least, should be. I have also stayed at RV parks that use reclaimed water (non-potable) for their grass / common area watering. They clearly have signs telling you this. There has never been an odor issue. There should be no odor to it; there is another reason. (Sorry this is off the subject but felt a clarification was in order) I agree to the no odor. We have spent the last 6 winters at Cocopah on a golf course site. They water every day and there is NO ODOR. Paul

spare tire

Our 5er does not have a spare tire carrier, so the spare must ride in the basement. It takes up too much room. I discovered that the pickup and 5er take the same bolt pattern wheel. I now haul just one spare for both units. I eliminated the trailer spare and carry the pickup spare only. Paul

RE: Good places to eat in Yuma

Another good place to eat is Mimi's Cafe in the Yuma Palms Shopping area. The food is very good. DON'T MISS Lute's Casino in old down town. It is advertised as follows: "Lute's Casino where the elite meet". Be advised that it is NOT a casino and darn sure has nothing to do with elite. I would describe it as a junky old beer and burger joint on steroids. Plan on spending some time there. Its a great experience and the food is very good. Paul

Patsy Cline crying

I was just listening to some Patsy Cline music and played her studio recording of "Faded Love". At the very end of the song you can hear her crying. I did some research and, yes, she WAS CRYING. WOW !!! If that doesn't get to your emotions, nothing will. RIP sweet lady. Paul

I have been to Dr William Rowlison a few times and think he is very good. He is located in Yuma at the "big curve". Paul

no fireworks at Mt Rushmore

The federal parks department has cancelled the July 4th fireworks show at Mt Rushmore SD. The pine beetles have killed so many trees that the danger of a forest fire is too high. Paul

RE: awning bolts

Paul, sorry I don't understand your comment. Please expand. Thanks, Collin Example: If a piece of aluminum is placed in a vise or other very tight clamp it will eventually become loose because the aluminum will flow. Another example: durind the 40's and early 50's some electrical wiring was done with aluminum wire due to the shortage of copper. After some time the aluminum connections became loose and arced. As a result many homes and other buildings caught on fire. Paul

RE: June 2010 Laura Ingalls / Western US tour

When in De Smet SD check out staying at the city park(Washington Park). There is electric hook ups only, but water is available and the rest room and shower building is ok. The cost is only $9.00 per night. I was born and raised in De Smet and we have stayed there many times for a night or two. The city has a free dump station at the first convenience store/gas station on the east end of town. I think it is called The Cowboy Store. You have mapped out a great trip. Have fun. Paul

RE: Water heater

Go outside and open the panel to the water heater. Look closely and you will find an off/on electrical switch. Turn it on. It must be in the on position for the inside electrical control swith to function. Paul

woe is me

The weatherman is forcasting up to 24 inches of snow and high winds. They are saying that everything will be shut down and no traffic for several days. It is predicted to be the worst snow storm in many years. Looks like we will arrive late this year. Paul

RE: How close to Yuma can you Boondock on BLM Land?

We do not boondock, but have stayed in Yuma for several winters(with full hookups). There are many who boondock just west of Yuma along I8. They start about 3 miles out and are seen for the next 15 miles going west. Its nothing like Quartzite, but there are alot of them. To answer your question, Yes there is boondocking close to Yuma. I have oftened wondered if they are visited by water and sewage trucks. Paul
