RE: Laptop computer plugged in, not charging

When I checked my laptop battery condition, it showed "27% available, plugged in, not charging". What's happening if it's plugged into a 110V wall outlet but not charging? I've changed to a different wall socket but still get the same reading, "plugged in, not charging". Never saw this message before, what's it telling me? The laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6000 using Vista system and is approximately 2 1/2 - 3 years old. Do batteries go bad that quick. I use it on battery power very seldom but it does get run down occasionally while traveling and not plugged in or shut down. Wagonmaster2 If you recharge your batteries an average of every other day, you will have recharged your batteries more than 500 times in three years. I have yet to see a battery rated at anywhere close to 500 recharges. Yes, it is highly likely your battery is shot. Could be other problems as will, but I would suspect batteries first. I have a laptop I have been using for the past four years, with a battery that does not charge. My yellow light flashes all the time. Good catch on the red X thing. Yes, that means the battery has been removed. My computer is old enough that it costs more than a new computer to replace the battery. So, I use it as it is. The MacBook Pro line sports batteries rated at 1000 recharge cycles before they drop to 80 percent of their original capacity. On the down side, you can't replace the battery yourself. Tom

RE: Garmin 465T (Again)

Pirate, Here is my responser from before. I've not use the 465T, but I believe it will route an RV (or a Truck) on a campground access road, when in truck mode. That is, I've not seen a Gamin GPS that would just say, "I can't get you there," when the 'there' exists. Tom

RE: Sitting in our driveway.....

You have posted a URL to a page that contain thumbnails. Here is the URL as a 'clickable' link. http://picasaweb.google.com/mrsguenther/Camper# To display a picture, you must has a direct link to the picture. I don't have a picasa account, so I can't tell you how to get the correct URL. Here is a tutorial for TinyPic.Com. Posting Pictures Using TinyPic.Com For The Host Site It is about the quickest way to post a picture with no account required. Tom

RE: Nuvi 755T

I don't think Gamin makes a Nuvi 755, The 'T' suffix indicates that the unit is compatible with FM radio Traffic alerts. The only Nuvi that is "trucker friendly" is the Nuvi 465T. Tom FYI - Garmin's website lists a Nuvi 755T when I was on it last night comparing the different features. I downloaded the owner's manual this morning to see if I could find more information. Yes. The original poster asked about the differences between the Nuvi 755 and the Nuvi 755T. Hence my post that I don't believe Garmin makes a Nuvi 755. Tom I am the original poster. Am I wrong about what you asked in the original post. Also is there any difference between a Nuvi 755 and a Nuvi 755T? Is so, what? Hence my response that I don't believe Gamin makes a Nuvi 755. Tom

RE: "Mark as Read" feature

As background, the "New Post" icon, http://www.rv.net/SharedContent/cfb/images/icons/fnew_post.gif, is not really a "flag" to indicate which forums, topics, or posts one has read. Here is the explanation provided on one's preferences page. The forums keeps track of when you visit and when you leave. After you have been inactive on the forums for a certain amount of time your last visit time will be reset. This is what determines whether new post icons are displayed. By default the forums resets your last visit time after 30 minutes of inactivity. If you check the forums off and on over a 2 hour period you might want to have the time extended so that you do not miss new post indicators that would normally disappear after you've been inactive for 30 minutes. Choose one of the other time options to extend this reset time. Why "Mark as read" was chosen for the link to turn off the new post icons, I don't know. Perhaps I would have chosen the same thing if I had been tasked with the job of naming the link. As to the issues you bring up, I have never seen it. But then, I have rarely seen a forum that had the New Post icon on more than one page. Note: my preferences are set to show 40 topics per page. After reading your post, I found that Class A Motorhomes did have the icon on two pages. When I clicked on "Mark as Read," the icons were changed on the first page, also. It may be helpful to know which portal (RV.Net, Trailer Life, etc) you are using. I will continue to watch for situations where I can test. Tom

RE: Switching off "not yet read" flags

The "new post" icon is not a "not yet read" flag. Here is the explanation provided on your forum preferences page. The forums keeps track of when you visit and when you leave. After you have been inactive on the forums for a certain amount of time your last visit time will be reset. This is what determines whether new post icons are displayed. If you check the forums off and on over a 2 hour period you might want to have the time extended so that you do not miss new post indicators that would normally disappear after you've been inactive for 30 minutes. Choose one of the other time options to extend this reset time. It would seem that you would benefit by changing the Reset last visit preference to the maximum of 3 hours. Your preferences page is reached by clicking on the My Preferences link, which is found on your My Forums page. Tom

RE: Am I doing something wrong? YouTube related

And it's not so much "custom" as it is FREE, open source, and freely modifiable. If you were as smart as you want people to believe, you would look at one of the URLs in the address bar and see that the forum software was written using ColdFusion. Far from "free, open source." This thread is closed before I post something that i would have to delete. Tom

RE: Am I doing something wrong? YouTube related

No, but as mentioned, you may have seen a post where someone just embedded a still capture of a video frame, and linked it to the specific video on the web. This is what I tend to do just to highlight the fact that it is a video. An example above taken from one of my posts in the Pet Forums. Did you read my posts? Once again, NOT a still capture of a video that is a link to the video. It was a playable video IN the post. Might have been posted before embedding was for some reason disabled. As mentioned to you previously, this is custom written software. Embedding videos has never been implemented. The question then becomes, did someone figure out a way to code it into a post. Your position should be easy to prove; provide a link to the post. Tom
