RE: What's a good portable gas grill?

WE've had the small Weber for a good ten years now.. Have had to replace the burner once in that time.. We have the one that the legs fold up and hold the lid on for storage.. Wouldn't leave home with out it..

RE: Anyone have buyers regret?

Well we had a new (paid for) 32 ft Adventure V-10n with one large slide and loved it.. But I always said when I grow up I want a DP.. Well the dealer called me and said they had a near new (3200 miles) 36 ft Journey come in for sale on consignment... I couldn't wait to make the deal..
BIG mistake, It cost twice the Adventure and has given me twice the grief.. Plus it has leather couch and seats that we HATE.. I have to put a beach towel on the drivers seat to keep from sticking to it.. The only up side is it does drive great.. But the MPG is the same as the Adventure..
At least were not up side down in it and so far my investments are making my payments, so far... Knock on wood, (I'm hitting the top of my head, ha)

RE: Have seen S/D..would you now go to Yellowstone? 2200mi. trip

I agree with most of the Posters.. We have been there several times and can't wait to go back.. BTW, I understand they now have a walkway out into space and back at one of there over looks.. Can't wait to check that out.
GO, and you'll want to go back...!

RE: Walmart Parking Lot Courtesy?

You would think someone who lays out $100K plus for a rig could use a campground and pay a few extra bucks. Not to mention the CG owner who are also trying to make a living.
Paying for the night should be obvious. By the way I have paid for every night I stopped over.
We do tend to visit Walmart when we are out, but only to purchase provisions for the night.
Boy there is one in every crowd.. I would like to have a Dollar for every time I've heard that comment.. Again, the reason most of us stay in a Wal-Mart.. #1 We got in late and don't want to wake people up in a CG.. #2 Its handy, most are right off the interstate.. #3 we need some suppies plus a rest stop.. #4 Its FREE, and handy.. Oh I could go on but you wouldn't understand..
And yes, "most" of us take care, and park out of the way of the local shoppers.. Good Day...!

RE: Hockey Gold for Canada!!!

It was a great game for both countires, and in the end it took one extremely talented hockey player to make an innocent looking shot turn into the Gold Medal winning score.
CONGRATS TO BOTH TEAMS.
I'll double down on that..! What a nail biter..!

RE: How Far to Tow in a Day

We have traveled to the East coast (SC) for the last ten years after I retired. From Washington state and will run around 400 miles a day.. Up or down from that depending how we feel or if it starts getting dark.. I won't drive after dark because of all the halos, ha.

RE: 05 Phaeton C7...Amount of Oil?

Two suggestions:
1. Download this Caterpillar Corp document on your engine. It includes the oil capacity (which includes filter):
http://ohe.cat.com/cda/files/517742/7/LEHT9288.pdf?mode
2. Call the Caterpillar RV Hotline with your engine serial number on Monday: 877 777-3126.
I suspect you have the shallow pan and take 19 quarts including filter. But, you do not need my or anyone else's speculation on something this important.
"BINGO"... BTW check your Cat manual. It will have a picture of the deep pan and the shallow pan.. Which you more than likely have, shallow pan that is....!

RE: Personal protection in Canada?

Use Bee spray and get the kind that shoots up to 20 ft.. I'm not sure but I don't think Bear spray is legal in Canada for personal protection.. (they always ask if you have guns or spray at the customs) Me, I make do with a baseball bat in my MH.. I keep it right by the drivers seat.

Yup, but you will have to use your Gen Set as well.. I would not try and run it off your inverter..
BTW we have done it several times

RE: 50 amp surge protector

Your study is flawed. Most of the responders will have surge protector, the rest will not bother. What you need to do is survey the people in camp grounds who have one. I have done that and I figure the percentage is around 2% that do have protection. I also have not known personally anyone who has been saved from a protector. Just shutting off does not mean a failure if one had not been installed as it appears many use this to justify their expense.
Low voltage does the most damage. The air conditioner is the item that is most affected by low voltage. From this my conclusion is that a voltage booster is far more logical to spend money on for LV occurs the most often in over loaded CG systems. I personally us a plug in meter to monitor voltage and place it where it is easy to see upon entering the RV.
"BINGO" In over 40 years of RVing I have never used a surge protecter and only one time have I had a issue with voltage. That was in Alaska we were only getting about 90 Volts.. I could tell by my AC running so slow and My plug in Volt meter confermed it..
But if it gives you a warm and cozy feeling to spent upwards of 400 bucks for the feeling, than by all means go for it.

RE: rv parks charging extra for children

Their taking their clue from KOA which means "Keep On Adding" The last time we stopped at a KOA they had a base rate.. Then everything was added on to that. Sewer, water, eletric, shade, kids, pets, you name it.. Like I said the "LAST" time we stayed with them... :R
