RE: New to Truck Campers - Appreciate Advice Requested

I just recently purchased a 93 Lance - it fits a little tighter on the bad and was real close to the rails. The addition of a 4 x 8 horse stall pad raised it up.

RE: New to Truck Campers - Appreciate Advice Requested

My 02 Dodge Ram 2500 4 x 4 has airbags and rancho 9000X shocks. The airbags are great. Check the weights on the campers you are looking at - bigger camper=more weight= tougher truck.. Don't go cheap - spend the money on the things that will help you carry the weight. Much better than going white knuckle with the heavy camper.. It's not fun !

RE: Truck advices for my new Lance 1040

I have a 02 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel - I just wish it was a 3500 - as for the engine - I take a diesel any day of the week. run circles around a gas engine and last a whole lot longer.. Buy the biggest truck you can afford - you can have a bigger truck and a bigger camper- not a bigger camper on a smaller truck !

RE: Propane leaks

Well had tanks tested at a propane dealer - no leaks. So I replaced the regulator and the hoses. So far no leaks so hopefully that will take care of it..

RE: Loading/unloading TC

I had a camper with "Crappy Jacks" it was always scary loading and unloading due to the fact that I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4 x 4. Sold that camper and just recently bought a Lance with "Stable Lift" _ wow what a difference - I don't worry about shaky jacks now. Although Stable Lift is expensive - I was lucky enough to get it on the used camper I bought. Oh I'm sure someone will ask If I ran over a Swingset - But I like the system..

RE: Hauling a Truck Camper

Rancho 9000x with in cab controller- firestone airbags- sway bar and load range E tires - the air bags help with the rolling motion that heavy campers do.

RE: Bilsten or Rancho

I also have a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4 x 4 - I put Rancho 9000X with in cab controller. It also has air bags. I did have an Eagle Cap 800 at the time and it was pretty heavy. Sold it in 2006 - and just recently bought a Lance 3000 8.6 with stable lift. I like the Ranchos - they really help and I think the in cab controller is a must.

RE: Propane leaks

Small leaks are hard to find. Soap water, yes. I would check the vent on the regulator.
The vent must be facing in the correct direction. MHs normally have a horizontal regulator with vent facing down. TT and 5ers have a vertical regulator with vent facing down. Campers can have either type depending on the bottles used. Some owners have switched from horizontal to vertical bottles and never changed the position of the regulator or the regulator type.
No they are horizontal bottles and the regulator is facing down I will do the soap and water test. Hopefully I can find it thanks!

RE: Camper Questions

I have a 2002 Dodge 2500 4 x 4 LB with the camper option. I have air bags and rancho 9000X shocks with the in-cab controller. On my 2004 Eagle Cap I had tork-lifts with fastguns. Fast Guns are very nice. One trip thru the scales with my 02 Dodge and the Eagle showed me at 10,500 lbs- pretty scary but it handled nicely. The air bags help quell the side to side movement. The Rancho's go up to 9 and work great.
After selling the EC 3 years ago. We decided to get back to a camper. Found a nice 93 Lance with stable lift - Now that I have seen it work I really like it - but it is expensive..
I would consider the airbags/ranchos for your truck. The ose campers always seem to weigh more than the label says..

Propane leaks

OK - I purchased a nicely used 1993 Lance 8.6 camper with stable lift. All in all it is very nice. It does have a propane leak smell near the tanks (yes the previous owner told me). Any ideas - I am suspecting the tanks themselves - but can't be sure !

RE: Help. Mold in My Watertank

d3500ram,
I used Geocel 2300. It is sold in the retail market like Camping World as Proflex.
http://www.geocelusa.com/php/oic/product.php?prdb_product_id=7
I just purchased some of this product - go direct to the manufacturer - it is cheaper than everyone and shipping is very reasonable - Camping World was $ 13.00 - everyone else was $ 6-8 but shipping was spendy.
The manufacturer only charges $ 4.95 shipping !@

RE: another Camper and sealing the seams

I had a /94 Snowbird/Snowriver that I redid the roof sealant on. I took it all off all the way around the rubber roof, cleaned it really well, bone dried it, then laid on two rows of Dicor self leveling rubber roof sealant.
This product is only for horizontal or near horizontal surfaces as it runs slightly, but it works very well. Others may say Eternabond too.
Mike
The roof is fine - its the seams on the sides that need the sealing. So how do you post a photo on this site ??

another Camper and sealing the seams

Well after 3 years we got back in the Camper game. Found a 1993 Lance with Stable Lift system on it. Wow That was easy- compared to the "Crappy Jacks" I had on my Eagle Cap. I know it looks a little weird - but loading and unloading is a snap.
It is a very nice camper and the price was reasonable. I do have some seams to caulk - so what do you suggest that will work good and not harden up ?

Remember Oregon does not have Sales Tax on anything - as for Internet - if you stop at any library in the area they usually have internet w/o a fee !
