I have viewed all the info on the recent recalled Samsung microwaves and I want to know where to look for the serial number. I have not taken the unit out and I am a new owner of this 5er. Any help, a big thanks.

In about the 63rd post in this thread, hud3ma writes: "On my oven, the sticker is on the right-side door jamb near the button that opens the door. It's dark gray with black lettering and is easy to miss. You must open the door to see it." Others said about the same thing.

Did you get the Maytag phone number from the early posts? 1-866-461-2289

I think the high staffing levels for the recall may be winding down, so you may have to struggle with the Samsung number in the recall.

Please post the response you get from the Maytag line.

Its strange that I found this post today. We purchased our 2005 Jayco Jayfeather 18F in Nov. and proceeded to put it in storage without using it all(insert sad face here!) On our maiden voyage last weekend we found that our Samsung MW would not heat. It kept good time, the lights came on, the tray turned but nothing cooked. I did smell a smokey odor immediately upon using it but I attributed that to new contacts. When we reported it to our dealer he wanted to remove it and send it back to Samsung to be repaired. I immediatedly told him that was not acceptable since the repair would take weeks and I was just starting the camping season. After much discussion he allowed us to bring in the broken one and he removed a new one from the a showroom model. I don't know what the model or serial number was but I do remember seeing a production date of Oct. 2004 on the back. You would have thought by now they would have corrected any problems but apparently not! I'm going to check the serial number on this new one to be sure. Not a good start to my "hybrid experience"!

When I got the Samsung letter there was a 800 number with it. I called it gave them all the info they needed and a few days later I received a message from Maytag that they would come out to my house and repair the microwave.
They were here first thing in the morning and the repair took only half an hour. So far so good.

My local dealer didn't do anything about it. I finally got him to order the part and I put it in myself.
Wasn't too bad instructions were included.

The Maytag repairman came to my house today to fix ours. I was surpised how painless the process was. We were about to buy a new microwave b/c ours was doing crazy things on it's own. One day I decided to check this forum and found the recall. Thanks for all the great posts.

Hi all-We have one of the Models that was recalled. However, our camper is a 2003 and we bought it used this year. Any idea how we find out if it was repaired or not? We do not know who the owner was as we bought it from a dealer.

Contact Norcold and give them your serial number, they will be able to give you an answer.
