We are looking for a nice campground on the ocean to go to for school vacation week in April 04'. Any inputs on where to stay, and also traveling from Mass, where's a good 1/2 way point to stop and spend the night.

Thanks

Good Morning, Don (tigerp).

Here are links to three Myrtle Beach campground websites.

Ocean Lakes

Pirate Land

Huntington Beach State Park

We have stayed frequently at Ocean Lakes and Hunting Beach State Park and like both. By doing a search for Myrtle Beach, you can find several threads that discuss these campgrounds. If you are not sure how to perform a search, there is a tutorial on the Beginning RVing forum. If you consider Ocean Lakes, you should make reservations immediately. Someone has already posted that they full for the summer months. Huntington Beach State Park makes reservations on 52 of their sites.

It has been 6 or 7 years since we spent a week at the State park In Myrtle Beach. Huntington was very nice with lots of trees and atmosphere. There is a second State park about 10 miles south that is more open with more sun. There are more traditional private RV parks as well.

We just returned from a week in Myrtle Beach. We stayed at the Lakewood Camping Resort. http://www.lakewoodcampground.com/
We loved it. Indoor heated pool, hottub, etc. 3 minutes walk from our site to the water.

Would recommend this CG to anyone.

We spent 10 days at Myrtle Beach Travel Park and really enjoyed it. Like the other large parks they have everything on site. We will be going back again for 12 days at the end of August in '04.

We've been to Myrtle Beach twice and both times stayed at Ocean Lakes. Heated indoor and outdoor pool, right on the beach, lots of other activities. The kids love it. What I like about it is that you can choose your site when you book, and all sites are pull-thrus, to me that's a big plus.

Lots of luck.

We went from MA to Myrtle Beach in August. I think we left at night and got there by dinner the next day. Maybe 18 hours? Stopped off in NJ at a rest stop for 4 hours. Pirate Land is a nice place and if you have kids they will enjoy it there. Get a site on the water and the ocean is only 70' away...on the other side of a tall dune. Ocean Lakes looked nicer though but we never stayed there. Also, PirateLand doesn't allow camp fires.

We stayed in MB travel park last April at easter which was late last year, easter comes early this year and may be a bit cooler, they have a lazy river around the pool, a big walmart supercenter is about a mile away, we were 100ft. off of the ocean. The bathhouses are a mix of brand new and some older ones, very clean. Dave
