Hello,
Has anyone done this and what are your reviews of it? We will be there for Oct 1 when it is available and wanted to know if it would be a good idea to surprise the kids on that night and take them to this event. I don't know much about it though. On the website they only give you a short paragraph on it. I know there is a parade and the kids should dress up... are the rides open? It doesnt even tell you what time it starts and ends. From what I gather they do it after regular park hours. Any info you can give me on this would be great.
Thanks in advance
Tracy

Tracy,

We haven't done the MNSSHP yet (although I hear this is a fabulous time) I always head to Disney Forum to ask any questions I have about Dinsey. These are actual "cast members" and people who are regulars who can help you out. It is a great forum! Another great site is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party for more info.

Hope this helps,

~Robin~

MNSSHP is a blast, but expensive though. it runs from 7 PM to midnight. All the characters wear halloween makeovers, and most of the MK rides are open.
There are parades, special fireworks, and candy stations, plus other things like a family photo, that I believe they mail to you.
When we did it, our son was 4 1/2 and had a fabulous time.
Best thing to do is to have a relaxing day, then head over around 5:30, 5:45 or so. They don't open the gates til 7PM, so you will have to wait out front. I would eat before you go, cuz the time flies by fast.
If you plan on going, buy your tickets ahaed of time, cuz they often sell out beforehand. For us, it was by far the best evening ever spent in the MK, so well worth it. Have fun!

Go!

We went two years ago. My daughter -- almost two at the time -- still talks about it.

Here's a photo:

It was really cool to see how they transformed the park for the event. All of the lighting was dark, etc. Very impressive.

We went last year. The park closed early, approx. 6:00pm, and then as long as you had your party ticket you could enter. There were various locations to trick-or-treat for the kids (big or small) and there was also a place to get a family photo taken. The parade was later in the evening. I don't remember all the specifics but we had a terrific time!!! Lots of kids wore their costumes, and as I mentioned earlier, there were places to do some trick-or-treating (especially in Mickey's Toon Town). Smoke filled Main Street!!

We did NSSHP a few years back on Halloween night, it was fun...so many cool costumes to see. We did it last year on the 10th for my grandsons birthday. Always lots of fun. Like someone said earlier, take the day easy and have fun that night.

I especially loved the headless horseman....too cool!!

Here's a link to some pics from the night...very fun for all.

We went last year and loved it--however, it was a sold out event (both nights I believe), so if you don't already have tickets I would suggest you look into that right away!! The decoration of the park was incredible. And it transforms without you even realizing it. We were in the park in the morning, went back to the hotel to rest and get into our costumes, then came back just a few hours later to a fully decorated park. It's amazing what they can do there! I think all the rides were open. The kids could trick-or-treat. They had special events going on around the park (hula-hooping contests, live bands, character appearances in their halloween costumes). It was wonderful.

Be prepared though--it is CROWDED!!!!
