Just before the holiday, I had a chance to check-out the brand new Lance 881. What an awesome camper! Specifically designed for short-bed trucks, it provides an amazing amount of floor space due to the full side slide (driver's side dinette and fridge slide.) Just like the 981 and 1181, the 881 features a rear kitchen and front bath. Also appealing, is the taller height in the bedroom and the versatile entertainment system.
In addition to the generous floor space, the 881 offers some nooks and crannies outside for storing small items. Although the compartments are small, that's a trade-off for having a short-bed truck and camper. of course, there's also a handy basement storage tray for bulkier gear.
Overall, a very nice camper! Way to go Lance!

Yeah, I'm sure it's a nice set-up, but, you'd best have a 1 ton-dually short-bed!!! It's gotta be heavier than my 821.

I just looked at it at the local Lance dealer. It's pretty nice, but they didn't have any specs for it yet. Since my 961 seems fine on a truck with the right tires and airbags, I think a shortbed should carry the 881 well enough.
I really like the new vent with sliding screen and blackout shade. I really liked the 981 and 1181 but wouldn't put either one on a SRW truck. Hopefully they'll up the fresh and grey tank size in the next couple of years before I'm ready to buy a new camper again. A bunk over the dinette would be nice too. Other than that, these are really nice units.

I seen the 981 last spring at an open house and have been waiting to look at the 881 ever since. I sure liked the floor space of the full wall slide out.
Ill have to check out the Lance dealer to see if they have one in yet.
