Poll:

Do you believe that parking your RV (in accordance with local codes)on your property lowers yours or your neighbor's property values?

After reading the responses let me add this...

Let's say not in the front yard and not on the front driveway, but on the side or in the back, on hardscape and landscaped around. I also wouldn't want to look at someone's RV parked on the front lawn.

NO! But nobody can see my property.

But when they could, no it did not.

If it is allowed, and the rig is well maintained and somewhat decent looking ( ) how could it?

If the rig blocks the street or views from your neighbors houses, then it could be a factor.

But that is just being an irresponsible and insensitive owner.

Also, "property" is such a vague thing. Some properties are many acres, some consist of no 'land" at all.

Property values are determined by what an un-pressured seller and buyer can agree on.

(That is not the technical definition, but I don't exactly remember the quote.)

I think for most RVers, being able to park their rig on their property would increase the value. Not having to find and pay storage.

Of course, that is my experience and opinion.

Personally I don't think so, it is no different than parking my car in my driveway. However, there are those who DO feel that even parking your car in your driveway lowers their property value (just look at all the asinine HOA rules some have to live with). You will probably find that there are as many answers to this as there are people. Kinda like most opinions, everyone has one and... well you know the rest. Personally I think private property is just that PRIVATE. You should be able to do as you like. Personally my neighbor drives an 18 wheeler and will park it in his drive when he's home. Doesn't bother me. I just put up a wood privacy fence and you can't even see his truck from my yard now (actually put it up because of the teenage kids blasting music and getting in my yard, that bothered me more than his truck ever did).

If it does, the neighbors don't seem to care... a few of them have bought RVs after seeing ours.

Not in my part of the country. Out here in the boonies, practically every homestead has an RV on site, some have several, the working ones and the long-defunct ones. Some of these places look like junkyards. Folks in these parts don't take kindly to being told what they can't do with their property.

There was a big battle last month in nearby Cortez over restrictions on mobile homes and prefab houses. The City Council, in a split vote, OK'd restrictions, but it might have been political suicide for those who supported them. We'll see.

Out here in the county (Montezuma), there's no way such restrictions would be imposed, much less banning RV parking.
