Am I the only one perplexed with the available choices of 15 inch trailer tires these days? I just ordered a new 5er, and am told to expect 'TowMax' tires on it when it arrives. They appear to be 'cousins' to NanKang tires. Let's just say...they wouldn't be my first choice. But what is? I read on the forum here the other day that even the Titans are Asian made. I had Generals (made in Mexico) on my old 5er and they served me well for the six years I owned it, but they seem hard to come by around here.
Is the Goodyear Marathon (made in Canada) the only 'good' (and available) 15 inch trailer tire these days?

Rv tires are probably like car and truck tires. Whatever is sent to them by the distributer. Quantity for the money.

My Laredo came with DURO tires, I did a search when I got it and found nothing at all on these forums about them, good or bad. I take that as a good sign. 2,500 miles and doing ok so far.

No you arn't the only one concerned. This has been a problem for 6-8 years or ever since the manufactors have been giving us 15" tires on 28-32 ft trailers with no capacity left after hithcin' up. Lots of us have gone to 16" and LT tires. You didn't say what gvwr trailer you were concerned about. 15" work just fine on lighter units but there is not a lot of choices out there as there are 16" LTs.............JIM

Camshaft,
Sometime back I posted about a tire made in Ohio by a company called Denman, and they are the only one I have found that makes a 15" in a 10 ply rating. You may want to check out my post, just follow the provided link.

Titan also makes a 10 ply 'E' rated 15 incher, but it's not the supposed rating that concerns me. These things seem to fly apart regardless of their rating and load. The trailer I have on order will be well under the 'D' rated tires (2540 lbs) it will come with, and with 5200 pound axles under it, that's all it really needs. But with all these 'no name' 15 inch tires that are out there posing as trailer tires, which ones are worth running? Or is over-killing it with 16 inch rims & tires the only/best answer?

We added the option of the 16" aluminum rims and tires when we ordered our new Wildcat 28RK. It appears that a week from now we will actually have it!!! YAYAYAY I do not know yet what brand of tires will be on the rig, but the ability to put heavier rubber underneath us was very appealing. Especially since our last trailer ended up being totaled due to a bent frame that came specifically from a blown tire.

Camshaft...we are very concerned about 15" tires. Our new 35ft. 5er comes with 15" Carlisle tires. We told the dealer we will not accept them. They called Discount Tire and DC said Carlisle tires are fine but the next best tire is Marathon. We have read on the forums that Marathons are not that good either! The dealership said Marathons would cost an extra $400. They made a deal with Discount Tires to get credit for the five new Carlisle tires and pay us $200. That way we could pay the other $200 and go up to Marathon. We agreed to the deal just to get rid of the Carlisle tires. Now, we are considering paying extra to go up to 16" wheels and tires. We have not picked up our 5er yet.
