We're heading out Nov. 1 for a trip up the northern Calif. coast on Hwy 101 and up to central Oregon. Any recommendations for where we can find some good barbecue?

I live in Texas and eat some real BarBQue but on the road we buy a pre-packaged BBQ briskit from Sams and follow instructions to the hilt. Get some "Bull's Eye BarBQ sauce and your in business. Hope you find it great to your taste Y'all have a good'un, NOW!!! OZZIE

Sounds like I'll be doing my own BBQing on this trip. Glad we have a big freezer!

We'll try the Texas BBQ in Castoville. We live in San Jose and go to Monterey pretty often so have driven past it lots of times. Next time we'll stop.

Thanks for the info.

The Steelhead Lodge in Klamath, CA is really good. Might be closed for the season, tho.

Gee whiz,I didn't know that the Oregon coast was known for it's BBQ places.. Yes,I've seen a few,BUTTTT,I think that I would be asking more about sea food places instead...Some of the best inexpensive places are found there....I can't think of any names just off-hand,but I've had some really good stuff in Newport especially at the place under the bridge by the Aquarium and then over on the bayfront, one of which is the Rogue Brewery Pub...Some really good places in Astoria and then when you get up to the Long Beach Wa area you have a couple of the best places on the ENTIRE coast one being the Ark Restaurant and Bakery at Nahcotta and the others; the Heron and Beaver Pub at the Shelbourne Inn and,of course,The Shoalwater Restaurant in the Shelbourne...Oh and there are also some BBQ places there....

We're only going up as far as Florence and then will go inland to Eugene area before heading back south. I'm sure there are lots of good seafood places along the coast and we'll be hitting some of those. But we're always looking for good BBQ, too.
I loaded up the freezer tonight and we take off tomorrow morning. Looks like rain in the forecast, but it should be a great way to spend the month anyway.
Thanks again for the advice!
