Good BBQ (pork)..I would suggest you go South on I5, get on I40 W to Memphis, Tn..Best BBQ places in the world..Should you want to go back to CA, just go back West..

Here is an out of the way idea! Here in the mid-west we have organizations that put on contests for the best barbecue, attended by numerous teams. Normally this is a food fest with lots of good food that the contestants love to share. Our local web site for info. is www.kcbs.us. If you could find something similar along your way it would be some GREAT food and lots of fun too. Most of the time they just cook meat and maybe some beans so you would need to provide anything else you wanted for dinner.

Good luck and enjoy!!

Agree with BIGDOG, what are you doing looking for BBQ while in seafood heaven??? The name of the place by the Newport bridge is called, what else, the Lighthouse Looks like a dump but food is excellent and has been written up in the travel magazines over the years. As far as BBQ, schedule a trip to Memphis
